Swansea City v Wrexham : Are you ready Jacks ? Latest on the game !
Friday, 4th Sep 2026 19:40 by Swansea Independent

It’s the penultimate game of this weekends fixtures in the EFL Championship. For us every Swansea City game is huge, but this is nowhere as big as the real Welsh derby, in fact as we have already reported this week. It isn’t a derby at all. But Sky Sports and Kieffer Moore will tell you differently.

Wrexham manager, Phil Parkinson seems to be defending his job again before this game. Yes, his side won 3-0 at Millwall but prior to that it was getting a bit sticky. Lose tomorrow evening in Swansea and the floor will resemble a good night out at the Troubadour in Port Talbot. Well, for those who recall it. His gathering of points until this midweek wasn’t that great. As we can see below.

Parkinson was relieved to see the end of the window after defeating Millwall 3-0 in Bermondsey in midweek. "I think the SCR (Squad Cost Ratio) ruling brought in, we've been navigating around that like a lot of teams and it's not been straightforward on that” Kieffer Moore though had a lot to say after Wrexham won for the first time this season. "We wanted a reaction and we got one. We nullified them to nothing, I don't think Pato (Anthony Patterson) had to make a save. To a man I thought we were amazing. We had to work hard together but we were very front foot, we were direct, we were aggressive, and we I always fancied ourselves to score. On tomorrow nights game he said, "They're a good side and I love the manager to be fair. I love what he's about. You can just see the way they're playing they are a very good side and it will be a difficult game from how they have started, but one we are really excited for. These Welsh derbies (not) they don't come around often and we are really looking forward to it. Momentum is everything in football, it's not like we lacked confidence but we take great confidence from this onto Saturday."

The Swans are still taking in the glow of a very good start to the season but have to realise this fixture could well be a statement game for the club. We’ve heard it’s still only four games etc … But this run including away at Southampton on Tuesday evening is a tough test of the squad and its ability. The Swans have faired far better than Wrexham so far and can look at this game as an opportunity to stay in top spot. That is if they win of course, the timing of this kick off certainly does throw up conundrums. And of course Wolves v Birmingham City the next day at 12.

We covered Vitor Matos and his thoughts yesterday plus a feature on Eom this morning, they are both below. But first a quick check on tomorrows fixtures excluding the Sunday game mentioned above.

This is some exciting league.

Tomorrow’s game is a sell out and as ever we will have our full match day build up and post match report here on the Indy.

I'm excited because since it's on Sky Sports, they'll be showing it on the Disney platform, and I finish work just an hour before so I can watch it. At 1:00 PM Mexican time, I'll be happy to watch my Swansea City. I want to see them beat Disney's team—sorry, I really don't like them at all.
