Preston v Swansea City : Pre Match Latest News
Saturday, 28th Aug 2021 11:09 by David Cornish

Today’s match at Deepdale will be a close affair, like many of the swans fixtures this season we won’t be expecting too many goal fests, it’s what we have come to expect. The difference this season though is the fact the club now have the ability to score goals, where as before it was always a fly by the seat of your pants.

Joel Piroe is fit and raring to go, and the starting eleven will include Matt Grimes and Jamie Paterson in a midfield alongside Jay Fulton. Jamal Lowe is expected to play alongside Piroe. Steven Benda will start in goal and bar any late transfer developments Ethan Laird and Jake Bidwell will start, however it’s then a toss up between Brandon Cooper, Ryan Bennett, Kyle Naughton, Ryan Manning and Joel Latibeaudiere for the back three. Morgan Whittaker is expected to be on the bench.

Goal check : The last time the clubs drew 0-0 was in 1931. That’s well over fifty games between the two sides since then. Every one of them has produced a goal.

Wins & things : Swansea City have won 26 meetings between the clubs, Preston have won 21, with 18 drawn.

A famous link : Lee Trundle played two games for PNE in the 2012/13 season before succumbing to injury.

When the teams wore the same kit : In 1990 Swansea City forgot to bring their kit bags to Deepdale. The outcome was the swans had to wear their opponents away strip. The swans lost 2#0.
