Wycombe Wanderers v Swansea City Pre Match News
Thursday, 24th Sep 2020 11:15 by Keith Haynes

Welcome to the Swansea Independent pre match thread for this Saturdays game against Wycombe Wanderers.

Wycombe haven’t had the best of starts to their championship campaign and will be looking to take the scalp of Swansea come Saturday afternoon. An unassuming club in Buckinghamshire they may be, but over the years they have dealt many blows to more fancied clubs visiting Adams Park. Last weeks defeat to Blackburn Rovers will hurt them and the sending off of Darius Charles will see him sit this one out. That sending off on 57 minutes sealed Wycombe Wanderers fate and any hope of getting anything from the game was lost.

Danger Man has to be Daryl Horgan. The 28 year old Eire international was signed from Hibs at the start of this month. He scores goals and is a quick and tricky winger who will cause the Swans some discomfort if allowed to do so. Horgan started out with Sligo Rovers in Ireland and his form for Cork City and Dundalk prompted Preston to swoop for him in January 2017, and he played 43 times in total for the Championship club outfit. Adebayo Akinfenwa didn’t start last week nor did he play against Rotherham in Wycombe opening day defeat, the 38 year old is an Swansea old boy so barring any reoccurrence of a recent injury will Gareth Ainsworth give him a go ? Not a lot of news about on the side as it stands so we can update you as soon as we get it.

Another ex Swans player who left the club in 2001 was Stuart Roberts, the move was during a traumatic time for the club, The fee was around 125k. How he was encouraged to leave the club on the other hand is another story.

Steve Cooper has a full side to select from bar George Byers. He will be keen to see the swans return to winning ways after the frustrating 0-0 home draw to Birmingham City last weekend. Nathan Dyer continues to train with the squad whilst looking for a new contract away from Swansea. Garrick is unlikely to be available.
