Gutsy Swans take all the points again

After the disappointment of the week following all the departures from the club this week the tonic that all Swans fans needed was a good team performance and that was what they got at the Liberty as Jay Fulton's first half header was enough to secure a second league win of the season.

The performance showed that as a first XI we probably have a good enough team to compete at this level but the strength in depth will be exposed as the season goes on and we have to hope that the loan window is successfully utilised to give Potter's undoubted management skills the chance to shine even brighter.

The new Swans manager is slowly bringing back some style to the team but he also seems to have instilled a very strong team spirit as is evidenced by the celebrations at the end and the unity in which they acknowledged the excellent support of the fans.

The game could have seen us win more convincingly - Ollie McBurnie missed a first half penalty and some other chances went begging but when you factor in Rodon at centre half and Mulder having to come on early to replace Nordfeldt who went off injured we can be more than happy with the result and a first clean sheet of the season too.

Add in a returning Leroy Fer as well as some more excellent performances and you leave the stadium this evening with some real positive vibes and a 100% record from the two games played.

Preston - with respect to them - will not be the best side to visit the Liberty this season but at the same time they caused us problems although we were equal to each and every one of them.

McBurnie's penalty was saved low down to the keeper's left as we looked to capitalise on a very bright start and it is really refreshing to see some quick passing back in the team and plenty of movement into space. Things that have been sadly lacking in the past few years.

We also have a width in the team and whilst the addition of Woods into the midfield would have made a significant strengthening of the options in the department but that is not to take away from the performances ion that area today.

The key part for me though is the way we dug in and held firm when Preston did attack and that is something that I take much comfort from that we have a steel and desire back in the team. Oh what could have been has Carlos found that in the last 8 games of last season.

Six points from six is of course a perfect start, now let us see if the owners will back the manager in the loan window in the manner in which he deserves to be backed.
