Jordi Amat was signed by Michael Laudrup in July 2013 for £2.5m; he rose through the ranks at Espanyol from the age of 7 and has played for Spain at every level from U16s through to the U21s. Still only 21, he has played 66 games in La Liga and will hope to be adequate cover behind Williams and Chico.
