It's looking pretty healthy, not only are we performing well but these players don't look like they'll go cheaply should big clubs go in for them given there contract situation. The only player who's contract is up at the end of the season is Tiendalli, the season after it's players who aren't so important to us any more - Emnes, Leon, Dyer, Rangel, Tremmel and Bartley.
This side, particularly the core of it is very strong but this could be the basis of the side for the next 3/4 years if we can hang on to them.

Reports in Germany suggesting that we're interested in Mario Gomez. The fee being discussed is €15 million (£11.7 million).
As mad as it sounds, I could very much see this happening. Gomez has had injury problems since he's joined Fiorentina and struggled to score goals, however his ability is unquestionable.
Has completed the third most take-ons of any Premier League this season with 42, only Alex Oxlade Chamberlain (43) and Eden Hazard (66) have taken on more players.
In terms of take-ons per minute, Jefferson Montero comes out on top as beating players more frequently than any other Premier League player.

Sorry if this has already been posted on here, but Ki is officially party of South Korea's 23 man squad for the world cup (despite his injury doubts) and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe is the first Swansea City player to be called up for the World Cup since 1958.
It seems the doubters are out in force with the news that Garry Monk will be our manager next season.
The questioning of the board's motives is silly, as are calls for the lack of ambition. The board will appoint the best man for the job, just as they did when previous unambitious appointments were made such as Brendan Rodgers and Roberto Martinez. If that man happens to be Garry Monk, it's not because of finances but because HJ believes he's the man to take us forward.
"Who wants to play for Garry Monk?" We're in the Premier League, does any one seriously think that we rely on our manager knowing players/clubs to sign players? If we offer the right money to a club, regardless of whether Garry Monk knows them or not we're going to sign the player. We're not in League 2 where we had to rely on contacts as we didn't have money to persuade players to join.
The players have certainly showed their commitment towards the cause of Garry Monk, and that's what is important. Monk is a man that has got the very best out of players like Wilfried Bony, Pablo Hernandez and Jonathan De Guzman, the chances of the three of them will surely be improved as a result of a man who's got the best out of them staying.
As for calls for an experienced number two who knows the division, I wouldn't look past Alan Curtis for his number two (who does have experience in the division of course). As a club we have got experience of this division, we don't need someone undermining the way that the club has risen and need to just simply carry on our way of playing. Trying to make out that this sort of decision is a disaster is baffling.
Returned from a successful loan spell from Huddersfield today.
I personally think he should be given the nod ahead of Tiendalli to play on Saturday against Everton, he's far from an ideal option but for the one game that Rangel is out for I think he's less likely to let us down. He's generally been solid for us in the Premier League and does seem to have improved, he's got some minutes under his belt with Huddersfield and I think he'd be the better option.

He thought all the lucky breaks went against Newcastle, in part due to Papiss Cisse and Hatem Ben Arfa missing through injury. Rangel, Michu and Bony's injuries might have something to say about that.

A small minority seem to think that first half performance warranted boos, not on at all. There was nothing wrong with the first half performance, or the effort from the players. We were creating chances, and controlling the game, we were mounting pressure and looking like scoring all game. Both of their goals came completely against the run of play, with the first one due to Ashley Williams not being on the pitch, but other than that it was complete control from us. No, it wasn't going for us, but not due to a lack of effort or performance and I don't see how booing would have helped the team. Show them some support ffs.
The main problem at half time, was the negativity in the ground. Bony was getting stick, and shut any body right up with him now on 10 goals in 13 starts. He's lethal, a great striker and we're fortunate to have a player of his calibre, why people think getting on his back because of his lack of pace is a good idea I don't know, as he's not going to be able to improve his pace and it's not essential to him as a striker. The performance was fine, we were playing well, the only thing we were missing until we got our first goal was some support from all section of the ground.
We're a very good side, we're showing it, we're not going to be in contention for relegation and will get a top half finish. Results aren't going for us at this moment in time, but they will be at some point if we can keep playing like this. We've reacted brilliantly on the field since the Cardiff game, and can be proud of our performances in the last two games going in to the International break ready to come out of it just as strong.
