So I did a trawl through The Football Critic site (this scouting is easy innit?) and picked CBs with a score higher than 75, eliminated the RHS ones and anyone less than 188cm and over 24. I ignored Serie A as it would be too expensive. The only two affordable ones are :
Boubacar Kayoute - Nantes
Loic Bade - Brest
No idea if they are fast, leaders or anything. I have seen Kayoute mentioned somewhere, but not sure if in connection with us. Anyone got anything? | | | |

Although I would like to see him replaced with a centre back like Cahill or Jones who would be a sort of mentor with the emphasis on teaching the younger players, I would not be surprised if we didn't replace him and went with Bednarek, Salisu & Stephens as was the plan a year ago with the addition of Simeu |  |

I think you are probably right Nick in your assessment but if Vestergaard does go I think we need one more player in that position for a bit of depth for things like injuries and suspensions etc.
Bednarek has not played well for a while and though Salisu is looking promising and I expect him to push on this season, I am not sure I would yet put my house on him - especially if you throw in the standard of our keepers. | | | |

but Vertgaard quickly became our best CB. That is the situation now.

I have always rated Tomkins. A solid pro who gives his all. He has made a fair few goal line clearances as well as tucking away a few at corners, so a good, dependable addition I would say. He doesn't fit in with the young/make a buck policy though. | | | |

Vestergaard going so who can we get as a replacement. Why not sign Cahill and use the money for a good midfielder? Glad that Ves has gone. He obviously wanted to leave as well, as he wouldn't sign a contract. As Ralph says, never good to have a player on last year of contract.

I think it would be a good idea to bring in someone with experience.
We've lost Bertrand, Ings and presumably Vestergaard, three players with international caps and knowing how fragile our team could be anyway, I really hope we get someone who can organise, lead, calm and inspire as necessary. |  | | |
