Little Pompey lose again
at 22:40 7 Sep 2021

AFC Wimbledon 5-3 Little Pompey

I saw a funny thing tonight: an old Pompey game was on the Big Match Revisited. It was an away game at Millwall in the mid-70s when Pompey fans claim they had a big rivalry. The funny thing is there were no away fans there at all. If there was one he was keeping himself very well hidden. I know Pompey didn't travel north of London but what is their excuse for having no away fans at all at a London game? Hopefully, they were less afraid to go to Wimbledon tonight and at least 50 of them turned up to see their team lose.

0 at Millwall:

England cricket crowds
at 14:30 6 Sep 2021

Is there any other country in the world whose home games are more like away games because thousands of fans born in the country support the opposition? To a certain extent, I could understand it in the 1960s and 70s when the Indians were recent immigrants or first generation Brits but they have been citizens here for several generations now. Yet nothing seems to make them happier than seeing England beaten.

England cricket has been very welcoming to players with Indian heritage. There have been plenty of players with Indian ancestry selected over the years and we even made a player born in India captain of the England team for many years. In fact, only 5 players ever captained the England team for more test matches than Nasser Hussain.

The Indian fans certainly put pressure on the England team and give India an advantage. So, perhaps they should have home and away sections at test matches, with the majority of tickets for home fans only, like they do at football?

It's not just food
at 19:35 1 Sep 2021

20,000 EU HGV drivers have left the UK since Brexit, never to return. All of the extra Brexit paperwork and bureaucracy have made it a less attractive job for anyone, including Brits.

Poor Tim Martin:

And our garden waste is still not being collected due to staff shortages. The waste disposal teams were mostly Polish and they've left.

3 match unbeaten run
at 17:04 28 Aug 2021

A pretty good start to the season. Our attacking midfield is on top form and we're creating a lot of goalscoring chances.

As in the Man United game, the fact that you could hear our fans above the other team's for most of the game reflects how much we dominated play.

It's good to see that the team spirit we had in the first half of last season is back. We fought back from losing positions twice today.

Best place for sunday lunch in Eastleigh area
at 20:30 24 Aug 2021

I know there are a few Eastleigh locals on here. What is the best place for sunday lunch? I need to book a table for 8. Outdoor seating would be OK.

More specifically, has anyone been to the Dog & Crook? That looks like it might be suitable.

McCarthy is costing us points
at 08:38 24 Aug 2021

McCarthy showed some improvement on Sunday. He came out and punched a couple of crosses instead of always retreating into his goal and instead of letting in his usual 3 goals, he only let in 1. But, his long kicks all either went straight out of play or to Man United players and he seemed to do everything in his power to avoid the Greenwood shot that United scored from. That was caused by the panic that sets in with him when opposition players are attacking his goal. It would have been easier for him to let the ball hit him. That cost us 2 points to add to the 1 he lost us at Everton, where Forster would have saved 2 of those goals

McCarthy hasn't kept a single clean sheet this year. All of our clean sheets have come when Forster has been in goal. Over a season, the points McCarthy is costing us are going to make a massive difference to our league position.

Fans all over the country
at 23:46 14 Aug 2021

Fans all over the country relished the opportunity to flock back to their stadiums and support their teams. In League One, Sheffield Wednesday had a crowd of nearly 25,000.

But, obviously not Little Pompey, where there were swathes of empty seats and a crowd of only 11,000.

"Busy rounding up family to try and fill some seats."
