was very excited until 4 injuries v owls , west ham must surely focus on prem survival and clawing back 4 points to get out of drop zone is not easy , likely they rest players, use reserves / development squad? a cup run is still the dream of many fans , with 9000 QPR tickets sold, new ground etc and i still hope we put out the best 11 we can , our catalogue of cup failures is long, painful and embarrassing . and must end asap imo getting to the ground is fun i hear as you cannot go thru westfield , how do their security know you are not a shopper? so most have a 15-20 min walk, from stations. i suppose the weather factor must come in too.

there are a few stations near ground, stratford high st, hackney wick, stratford , well served. as for tickets not had mine, yet, glamour of the cup, excitement jumpers for goalpsots rattles, flat caps, ferrets and pe and mash, wallop av it a london derby 9000 r's , nothing but a race track, shot put and a high jump between the team and us as a club we need revenue , so a few rounds of the cup would be ideal and a rarity. no replays, is there extra time or straight to pens these days? frey up front to hammer em, and live on discovery + to boot

It's not the 70's anymore Mod old chap, no more of the boot.

If you're coming from the east, you've got much better options all round.
I live nearby on Central Line, so...answers below.
1) Possibly the most important is. Do we need to find a watering hole outside of Stratford? I know we've been advised to, but is it necessary?
> Unfortunately, yes. Not many options and you need a home ticket anyway. But if you're coming on CL westbound, there's really good pubs aright by Leytonstone (Red Lion, plus a Spoons) and Wanstead (George) tubes, plus a good one five mins walk up Leyton High Street (Engineer).
2) As we have bus replacement on Greater Anglia services, I'm yet to decide whether to drive to Shenfield or Gants Hill. Is their still free road parking available at Gants Hill on the side roads? I suppose this question could also apply to Fairlop or Hainault.
> Central Line is a better bet if you want prematch. All the WHU fans also park by the tube stations, particularly Gants Hill. You may get lucky. May find more joy in streets near Redbridge, Wanstead and L'Stone tubes.
3) If I'm using the Central Line, is it better/quicker to walk to Leyton after the game than use Stratford?
> Hadn't thought of that! Will probably attempt it as drinking that way after.
If I was coming from the West, I'd drink by Liverpool St Station before and jump on Elizabeth Line.
Can concur with this response. Having lived almost all my life in various places on that curious loop at the eastern end of the Central Line, this is very much my manor.
I can't really help on parking as I don't drive but I have observed that congestion in the area increases significantly on Sunday afternoons when West Ham are at home.
Just to clarify the George (as was) at Wanstead, lovely building right opposite the station is no longer a Wetherspoons and is now called the George and Dragon. Price of a pint of Guinness in there now is double what you'll pay in the Spoons up the road in Leytonstone (The Walnut Tree.) But as TK has said if you're approaching from the east, Leytonstone is a good bet for 'permissible' watering holes.

Pubs in Leyton should also be okay and closer to ground than those in Leytonstone , Leyton star, birckbeck tavern, engineer

Could add 7-8000 to Old Trafford in a strange thing called an FA Cup quarter-final - a fair while ago now (Paul Ince is...) - lost.

Hillsborough one of the few examples where we turned up en masse and got the job done.

Didn't we take 6k to Fulham in the late 90's?!
Or is my memory as shit as West Hams football and Forest's away following?!

One or two at this one, which went rather well.
Never ever forget this. I was a primary school teacher at the time in the locality and one of the parents of a child in my class filmed me running towards the Chelsea section to taunt them. I thought we had zero chance so had been in the pub since noon. Can't have been a school night. Can it? I asked him to delete the footage.

I literally can’t wait to be taunted by a joyous few hammers fans in a half empty stadium deep into the second half that it’s “6-1 on our big day out “ as their development squad runs riot .
Was that too pessimistic? 😄

Watched the second half, very unlucky offside but would have been a perfectly good goal without it. Forest immediately equalised with a slightly lucky header and then got a pen right at the end that again without VAR wasn't seen.
Think this result was massive in their season. For a short time they were two nil up and just a point behind their nearest rivals outside the relegation zone. But ended it with much worse goal difference and seven points behind their nearest rivals Forest outside the relegation zone.
Must have a massive impact on their confidence.
Did notice how poorly Bowen played as whenever I have seen them play Bowen normally carries the team on his own.

No better time to play them.
We all know what happens next !!!!

Just watched the highlights and pretty much agree with all this post .West Ham very unlucky all night and that idiotic offside call preventing them going up 2 was a joke really. Not sure that was a penalty for NF either the keeper was already committed what exactly is he supposed to do . A couple of worries for us ,WH are excellent at the fast break (see Summerville ) and we are really suspect there plus their corners are excellent curving in under the bar another big red flag for us . Of course they are very poor at defending corners also but we never deliver the correct ball so that might no an issue for them. We will probably lose but if we score early the crowd could turn on them

Tuesday or Wednesday night from memory, oh what fun.
