| The Season is Done on 10:05 - Feb 15 by Spaceman_P | To be fair guys.... this season if we finish anywhere between 7th and 12th i'll take it... itd be considered a vast improvement. |
Massive “IF”. I would agree 7th-12th would be progress. I think it’s highly unlikely though, and don’t know why anyone thinks it is likely. A tough 14 games left, injuries, not in great form, likely to have little to play for in most of those games. A point per game is most likely and that’ll probably have us 14th-16th.

| The Season is Done on 09:22 - Feb 15 by Ned_Kennedys | We know Edwards is a very good player but playing him at right back needs to stop as he was useless there yesterday and didn’t get forward to support Bennie at all. Play him in the centre, especially at home. |
And drop Cook? But he can head and kick it. Why would you want to play a ball playing CB who can break the press and get us moving forward? I think it's a lack of bravery from JS to drop Cook. If he did Edwards would move inside and Mbengue could take RB again, adding more pace, power and hopefully controlled aggression. Bennie was hung out to dry yesterday. You can't start a 19yo and have the RB consistently 20 yards behind him offering zero support. At least Mbengue gets up and down, offering overlapping. Really poor from JS. He got everything wrong yesterday.

I think we'll drop like a stone now. Some tough matches coming up, crap form (two wins in 11) and we won't play Marti every week (arguably the best we played all season). Stephan was sacked for 1 win in 17 at Strasbourg, so I suppose he's improved.

| The Season is Done on 15:11 - Feb 15 with 1781 views | daveB | The season is far from done imo, we have 14 games left, lets try and win as many as we can and finish as high as we can. It would only take a good week to turn things around again or a bad one to have us looking over our shoulders. Far too early to get the beachwear out. | | | |

In theory but while we are so depleted due to injuries, three wins in a week is extremely unlikely. And tbh eight losses in a row, and we still would just need two wins from six to very likely survive, so cant agree at all with what you are saying here.... [Post edited 15 Feb 16:54]

Thats fair enough, for me I just think we have too many games left that people are going to pay to come and watch for us to say well we are all done in Feb, feet up. First aim should be more points than last season for starters. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Don't think the players should or would give up with so many games left, but I think realistically, with the injuries we have and with several of the fit players being out of form, we are unlikely to be challenging for that last playoff place once we get into the last 5/6 games. Hopefully, we can get some players back and win a few games to beat last seasons points total.

I agree with you there. It's far too soon for the players to hit the beach. My point was that with all our injuries to key players it was going to be difficult/impossible to sustain a playoff push. It's a bad situation we've landed in but we have to try and make something of it. All our injuries will at least open up some first team opportunities for our fringe and younger players who will get a chance to show what they can do and find out what the game is like at this level.

Saturday is the only day I get to watch us Boston but we are so inconsistant its infurating .Look at Wrexham and Coventry playing incredible stuff followed by 2 shocking games with one at home its not acceptable really . At least over here we still have most of the day to distract ourselves and I only turn on LFW at dinnertime to read the fallout fury

Exactly, if we can somehow find a way to get two or three wins on the spin things will suddenly look a lot more rosy, and this message board a lot quieter

If we do suddenly put some results together and finish top half then that would be great. It would be progress and give some confidence to the club, fans, and players for next season. The financials are still what they are. With the rolling PSR loss cap, we'd still likely need to bring in transfer income (net) this summer. But trade well, and next season could still be one of hope and excitement. But concerns at this point with the above happening, due to the difficulty of the run in, our form, our injuries, and the fact lots of other teams are competing between us and the play offs already (even if the points gap is small) are reasonable and realistic. It's fine to wait to judge. It's not fine for the club to wait to prepare for the worst though.
| The Season is Done on 13:24 - Feb 18 with 692 views | terryb | For my part, I've seen many a season over the decades that a team (not just Rangers) has gone through the motions when midtable & out of all Cup competitions. Especially prior to the introduction of the play offs. The 1969-70 season is an example of this as nobody (players, club & a lot of fans) gave a toss after the defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup. That side had experienced players like Marsh, Bridges, Venables, Harris & Ferguson in it. Do I like it? No. Do I understand it? Yes. Hopefully we've not finished this season yet, but I'm not expecting to see a surge up the league table. | | | |

I'd like to see the stats, but typically QPR sides perform better against top teams rather than bottom half teams? So I know our next five games look very tough, but I think we do raise our level of performance for these. Of course, then ask why we don't do the same against sides below us... Cue nul points!

Possible but it would require Julien to be more reactive, decisive and attack minded away from home.

It's not true, never has been. I will quote myself from this very thread: "It's an enduring fallacy, driven by expectation bias, that we do better against better teams. This season we've won 6 points from seven games against the top six and 16 points from ten games against the bottom six. Similar story every season. "

Yeah I'd agree i can't see us making the playoffs. For me the aim should be more points and finish higher than last season especially when you see how much we have spent and that is still achievable. Playoffs would be a hell of a season but I don't think we are good enough at the moment even when the injured players come back

Are those points stats from games against the current top and bottom 6 or against teams that were in the top / bottom 6 at the time we played them?
