| Next season’s squad 09:13 - Feb 15 with 3318 views | MikeyG85 | We have Cook, Hayden, JCS all out of contract. Morrison supposedly to return from loan and maybe Field. Based on age, injury and form you maybe give one of the above an extension. So where do we need to add quality to genuinely push on next year? Right back - Problem position for years, we have cb’s and cm’s doing a job currently. Adamson needs a loan. Left back - RND is on loan, need to sign at least one player. Attacking mid - We have so many wide and 10’s but are any consistent enough, such a strange season when reviewing this area of the squad. Do we try to move a couple on such as Saito and Dembele or give them another year? Forward - Kolli needs either more game time or a loan. Do we have a back up for Kone and is he even good enough as our main man!? Thoughts? [Post edited 15 Feb 9:15]

But the whole business model of this football club is to improve the players that we have . This can happen of course, Madsen being the case in point. But maybe because he is slightly older but he was able to adapt and improve by quite a bit . My worry is that the rest are too far off stepping into some of the positions mentioned . At some point these players have to go out on loan a couple of times and then see where they are . We can’t keep spending money or signing freebies with horrendous injury records. We have to break the cycle . Adamson, Morgan, Bennie, Kolli, Esquerdinha should have already had a loan or be on loan so they can step up, improve, help us move forward and then move them on for a profit. We haven’t done that so what are we doing to make them better players at Heston everyday ? I’m sure we are trying . But you either have to improve your due diligence and get a better quality youngsters through the door or raise the coaching levels in some way so these youngsters don’t look so far off starting regularly. We need them to be better. Morgan has done it but really gone backwards a little. Kolli looks ok in spurts but struggled a lot of the time . I realise that I’m crotchety after yesterday and I’ve tried to stay away from knee jerk bleating on here as I thought it was embarrassing yesterday. But at some point the players in the building have to improve and as a group , we look like passing, controlling and retaining the football is the hardest thing in the world . That just shouldn’t n be

In fairness I don't think that many other Championhp teams are producing their own starlets off the conveyour belt season in season out. Most of the impressive youngsters in the Championship are on loan from Premiership clubs. It doesn't look to me that we are that far behind other Championship teams in terms of youth development.

Are you f.....g serious? Given all we know about JCS' health and our under-performing medical and fitness teams, they handed JCS a deal until 2029. Only QPR!

I’m reading that first sentence over and over again in sheer disbelief. I suppose it galvanises the management, a nice get out of jail card to quote when once again it all goes south.
| Next season’s squad on 08:38 - Feb 16 with 1672 views | BushRanger82 | Next season's squad won't be much better than this season's squad, or the season before last season's squad. Because, we are QPR, and that is the QPR way. Oh, don't get me wrong, that's not to say we won't flook the odd good season out of 20, we will, we have, and will again. But when, is anybody's guess. | | | |
| Next season’s squad on 09:19 - Feb 16 with 1581 views | derbyhoop | Given how many players are in their first Championship season, e.g. Mbengue, Kone, Buŕell, Vale, Poku, I would hope we improve on this season. You could add Walsh and Esquerdinha to that list. The club clearly have high hopes for both. Nardi will go. Cook and Hayden possibly. But we will need a certain amount of experience to guide the younger players, perhaps Dunne, Chair. Any progress will be governed by how much further the youngsters can develop | |

If possible I would like RND to sign if viable. A specialized right back. Might need another CB with JCS still around. Then IMO we are ok. Its the same issue though........fitness. Dembele wont be available at the beginning of the season. Probably November for him is a realistic date to return. Poku hamstring, or lack of. So maybe another attacking midfielder but Koli can play wide. I think Hayden will be still here next year. 25 players above in that squad. Esq and Adamson possibly not counting. Steve Gallen wanted the DOF job after LF, thought he would get the DOF job...did not get the DOF job. The board gave that job to Christian Nourry in Jan 2024. Five months later, Gallen joined Millwall as DOF instead, with Millwall having finished three points ahead of QPR in 13th. Gallen has been doing the kind of experienced squad building and trading work at Millwall since then that QPR could have benefitted from. Millwall are 3rd now, 13 points ahead of QPR who sit 13th. Those are the choices our board and Lee Hoos made. Of course, nothing is settled. Let's see who would've been the better candidate long-term. "Basically do what Millwall are doing", however, is exactly what we could've and arguably should've been doing for the last 18 months.
| Next season’s squad on 10:21 - Feb 16 with 1398 views | terryb | What is required for next season depends on what is the aim of where to finish. I would say that we have only five players (Dunne, Madsen, Chair, Burrell & Kone) that MIGHT be good enough for a top six position, with the rest being middle Championship players at best. Where I think we need to change is signing different types of players for the same poition, rather than our four "wingers" who are very similar. | | | |

Think the big diff between Gallen and Nourry is , Gallen has been around football all his life Nourry played FM on his laptop. id imagine Gallen actually goes and watched players , checkes them out , he dosnt open his Laptop up and press a few buttons . woud love to see the spent diff between us and millwall this season if anyone has it handy

16th written all over that squad, eh? When you lay out like that my optimism wanes. to get anywhera above that then definately need both left and right backs - multiple, i do not think any on that list good enough Another center midfielder or two cover at center back then get the rosary beads out and hope Chair and Burrell stay fit and Poku /Saito not the waste they have been so far [Post edited 16 Feb 12:45]

We know we probably need at least one decent sale in the summer to finance investment in the squad. - We know there has been some interest in Varane (who is out injured) - We know the club might be willing to sell Field (out on loan) - And apart from Burrell the big breakout who might pull in some decent money is Madsen (also just picked up an injury) Problem is that Varane, Field, and Madsen are all midfielders which is an area where we are light already. So if we sell two of them we will probably need to bring in three in that position.

I honestly think a quality goalkeeper and two specialist full backs that can both defend and stick a decent cross in would be totally transformative. Everyone else would look miles better.

When Les left, getting Stephen Gallen as our DoF seemed a very obvious and extremely good call. Links to the club, fantastic track record etc etc. But no. Of course. He didn't get it. Anyone who says you can't achieve on our budget - look at Millwall.

| Next season’s squad on 14:05 - Feb 16 with 967 views | BAWHoops | The squad needs full backs and central midfielders plus a GK. We also need to be loaning out the fringe players who aren't at the level yet. Adamson, Esquardinha, Morgan, Bennie. Squad for next season should be GK - Walsh, Cooper, New GK RB - Mbengue, New RB LB - Larkeche, New LB CB - Dunne, Edwards, JCS, Morrison CM - Madsen, Hayden, New CM, New CM (I'm assuming Varane gets sold) AM - Chair, Poku, Dembele, Smyth, Saito, Kolli, Vale ST - Kone, Burrell, Obikwa I reckon that's 4 signings with the midfield one's and left back being key | |

Don't think Varane goes unless the offer is around 6-7m. We supposedly turned down 5.2m? IMO more likely Field will go to Norwich for around 2-3m if he performs well for them. That would leave us with Madsen, Varane, Hayden and Morgan. If they could get a good loan for Morgan then possibly a CM to come in.

I suspect if Cook's last performance was a one-off and he is fit for the remainder of the season, then QPR should offer him a 1-year deal on reduced terms. He would be mad not to take that, as then he gets another year in the Champ, and with our record, that's a ton of games. Remember JCS is never fit. Larkeche could be finished and Esq is no LB. So, we have no LB right now, let alone in the summer. RND's wages are too expensive, so forget him. Varane will probably stay, as no one will meet our asking price. Somehow, we need to get Zan Celar off the books, too. An almighty feat.
