It pains me to say it but this is the one game I would play Jack Stephens, I’d also definitely play Oriol Romeu. The older players have a vital role in keeping the young-uns feet on the ground (literally), many will have never played in such a hostile atmosphere with the mouthy fans so close to the players. This is a day for older level heads to lead and instruct the boys, what we don’t want is any hotheads earning unwanted yellows or god forbid sending offs. |

I read that Princewill Ehibhatiomhan has just been recalled early from his proposed season long loan at Swindon, maybe Banana Republic will offer him as our ‘new’ striker when they don’t actually buy anyone in this window. |

Completely agree that it’s a great opportunity to give Romeu a proper run-out, however I really really hope the manager resists the option of playing Ross Stewart, I think the combination of a rock hard pitch, freezing cold weather and big burly defenders looking to make a name for themselves is a recipe for another injury disaster. |

I read on BBC Sport that Callum Wilson is in discussion with West Ham to terminate his contract, I appreciate at 33 he doesn’t fit the Banana Republic player model, but as we’re desperate for a striker, would he be worth a punt? |

Christ Pat you do talk some shite, after all these years you of all people should know that it’s not the result that excites us, but the unexpected delight that all the stars have aligned and we are playing some really good football.
