I understand there is an increase in Championship broadcasting revenue this season amounting to £3m to £4m, plus between £500k to £1.5m for live matches. There's also international television rights of another £1m to £2m.

There's also a £5m solidarity payment from the Premier League as well.

I don't know how much all this compares to last season payments from these sources but it does mean increased income for the club in addition to the Eze money.

Retiring from football
at 12:45 2 Jan 2026

Here's an interesting article by David Wheeler, once of this parish: https://www.theguardian.com/fo . He describes how difficult it is for players when they retire from playing.

It made me think that some of us might feel similarly if we 'retired' from football as supporters. There must be quite a few who put in almost as many hours to football as the players.

One thing he didn't mention was retired players becoming supporters of their boyhood club as a way of filling the hole left when they finish playing. I wonder how many do?

Dave Mc thinks Frey could be on his way: https://www.westlondonsport.co

Who on earth would want him?

Our enduring lack of consistency is the main thing I took away from yesterday. Every team will have ups and downs over a season but QPR seem to be novices in the 'ups' and experts in the 'downs'.

Field is left footed.

I like Morgan but would be a little worried playing him at CM today as Norwich like to attack through the middle and I think Morgan could be vulnerable. If we're chasing the game he'd be a good sub to come on after the hour.

If Madsen is injured for today's game, I would like to see Field together with Hayden. That wouldn't be the most creative CM pairing but they'd be more reliable than Varane, who I've had enough of watching this season.

That's great. I'm pleased he's staying.

Of course, no hint whatsoever of the length of his contract. So bloody irritating.

Thanks guys. It's heartwarming to read of my fellow Rs disgust at this corrupt and autocratic tradition. I absolutely concur.

Thanks for that. We see things a little differently but fair enough. I guess we'll have to wait for the annual accounts to get an accurate picture of these things.

How do you conclude that: "...the Eze money has been more than spent"? If you agree there was a transfer fund used for most of the summer signings before Eze's sell on money came in, I genuinely don't understand how you get to that conclusion.

Most of the summer signings were made before Eze was sold and QPR received the sell on cash. For example, Kone was signed 10 days before. The only substantial transfer post Eze's move was Saito at £2.8m.

It would have been irresponsible in the extreme for the club to have spent money it didn't have, so there must have been a transfer fund available apart from the Eze windfall.

Stephan got that game so wrong and most of the players followed suit. WBA weren't much better but we laid the win on a plate for them. All in all, a complete mess of a football match.

The left side worries me as it's relatively weak defensively.

I am fairly certain that some of the Eze money could be used.

I think this is the most likely as Field can then give Esquerdinha the help he'll need.
