Our expensive recruit Tomkins still taking a little time to settle into Warriors but scored first try on weekend as we stuffed the Tigers. After awful first couple of games we're looking OK.
Weird weekend in NRL with Storm and Rabbits getting walloped and Manly beating Roosters Friday night.
Sheen/Clive still watching or given up?

I've seen the London Broncos once this season, but they are so terrible they are not worth talking about. St Helens were outstanding beating Leeds with a makeshift team on Thursday, Hohaia had his best game since he went there, he looked like a world cup winner for the first time. NRL has been fantastic this year. I know I'm not supposed to like them, but Manly are an amazing group. They seem to live off scraps when it comes to recruitment and retention, but they have an enormous will to win, it's just irresistible. there's no way they should be able to beat the Rabbits and the Roosters on consecutive weekends.

Good to see the Warriors getting in gear at last, but I can't help thinking that having Elliott coaching is a handicap. I hope Tomkins kicks on, but getting him in ahead of Locke seemed designed to piss his new team-mates and fans off. I'm pleased also to see some other sleeping giants stirring, like St George, the Broncos, Penrith, and even the Eels (couldn't get worse, I suppose).

Hiya 76, Tomkins has looked a bit shaky once or twice, dilly dallied in goal and cost a try last weekend. On the plus side really sharp assessing options when he joins backline and his quick hands helped make a couple of tries this weekend. His solo try was also a taste of what he can bring. I was a bit doubtful when Warriors chased him as i thought Locke was pretty handy but i'm changing my tune now.
Worst signing so far gotta be The Blues, picking up Benji Marshall... bro he was absolutely rubbish when he came on at fullback other night. Warriors must be out of cash now but imagine Benji, Shaun johnson and Tomkins in the same team. Not great tacklers i'll admit but even if they let in 6 tries a game they would probably score 10 in reply!

You'd have to think Benji will be back in league next season as at his age he can't afford to spend another year largely on the bench - otherwise early retirement in Japan?
Sheen - we were gutted to get Elliot as owners had been bigging it up that were after Bellamy from Storm. Warriors are a confidence side though and if can build on last 2 results we should easy make the 8.
Been a really odd start to the season but thats what makes NRL such a good comp.

Tomkins has gone from a team with a very structured style of play to one with virtually no organisation and a near total reliance on off the cuff footy. It's a big change for him but he's a cracking player.

Marshall, however, has been living off his past reputation for a good four years now, to the point that Wests were glad to see him get the union offer as it gave them an excuse not to sign him. Either Japan or some dopey SL club for him next year.

I fear Souths may have missed their window of opportunity for this team.

I agree about Marshall. Wests poured so much of their cap into him the squad fell apart, and without a competitive team around him he then lost interest. I saw him at ANZ last year and he looked porky and uninterested. He might as well have taken the Union law-book out on the pitch to read he had so little influence on the game. He dfinitely had to go. I doubt an NRL club would take him back now - next stop Warrington?

Sad to see Souths struggle (tee hee).

Just shows how much we missed Cam Smith, saying that thought the Doggies took us to the cleaners. They looked pretty good.

I had to laugh when I read about the Dogs dumping Fifita. What a tool. The ARU are warning him now that they have very little to offer him. Chips, meet p*ss.

A few years back the Bulldogs were a club with some dodgy fans, some dodgy personnel, and some dodgy management. Todd Greenberg started the changes there and they've been continued since he left. Good to see they've got some standards and a bit of self-respect and have dealt with Fifita appropriately. I wish QPR (owners, management and fans!) had that sort of attitude tbh. That said, having been to Bankstown, I'm not sure I want to go back.

Fifita's obviously an idiot but that's not particularly unusual in sport, it should be his management taking responsibility for his interviews, etc. That's their job.

We just need to find the English Football equivalent of Des Hasler then? Or Craig Bellamy, well I would say that with my obvious Storm bias!

Hopefully that's the turning point for the Warriors (and for Tomkins). What a game! How have they kept that so well hidden all season?

Rabbits- Broncos very exciting too. George Burgess is a monster. Great comp this year, so unpredictable.

Giving Millwall the flick tomorrow and driving up to Headingley for Leeds-Saints tomorrow. Master Sheen loves the Rhinos but it's impossible to get there for their usual Friday night kick-off.

Bit gutted talking from the other side of the fence! Great game to watch though. We're shipping shed loads at the moment, I'll put that down to inexperience? Apart from Slater, Cronk, Smith and Hoffmann of course. Your tries were all scored in Young Tonamapiea's (sic) corner I seem to remember? Saying that though I thought the Warriors looked dangerous and incisive going forwards, lots of energy, we seemed to huff and puff a bit before we got going. Of course I was hoping for another Dragons great escape!!
Looks like you'll make the the eight, maybe we'll scrape in just about?

Did the doubleheader earlier this season - Rhinos on Friday night and Elland Rd for our great 1-0 win on the Saturday lunchtime. Stayed at the Novotel in town for a mere £40, so a good weekend out. Only thing I missed was getting a ticket to see Steve Vai on the Friday night at the O2 arena there. Strangely, living in Oz and my two games at Headingley are the only two I have seen this century. Not a big league follower since my team North Sydney were unceremoniously dumped and then asked to join Manly to make the Northern Eagles. What a stupid idea that was. Anyway, prefer the English matches as the atmosphere and fan support is so much better.

My friends tell me that tipping in this season is just a mess and the previous posts have just echoed that.

Warriors always at turning points Sheen - frustrating as hell to support.
Storm do seem to struggle against us more than most & great win for us.
Really odd start to the season results wise but making it more exciting.
Tomkins seems to be improving each week & must be tough side to settle into as one of the more spontaneous sides in the comp.

I'm down in Oz at the moment and enjoying watching another pile-driving performance from the Warriors. Johnson is unbelievably good, and Hurrell obviously doesn't let anything affect his game. Not the sensitive type, I think. I know it's only the Raiders, but Tomkins is getting better every week too.

I went to the Roosters game last night. Wests were pretty limited and the Roosters sloppy now and again, but they look fantastic too when they get going.

We hadn't won at Eden Park before today. Still don't like it as Warriors home ground as is rugby not league venue.
Johnson is class act & sensible with it, Hurrell not so much! Tomkins getting better each game & good to see us sign solid Aussie back rower in Hoffman for next season.
All the more enjoyable with Ricky Stuart as Canberra coach!!

Enjoy time downunder Sheen.

Shows what I know. Rumours of Melbourne's demand exaggerated, again.
