The Frankie Friday Music Thread.....RIP 07:01 - Apr 4 with 2040633 viewsLblock

Here I am starting this from my recovery bed and no clue how to link tunes on an iPhone!

Will stick on my offerings from a PC later unless the other knuckles thread is the preference to use?

House classics and dancey dazzlers only, no hijacking from suicide rock please!

In the beginning there was jack.......

Been meaning to update for years.
Can only be one.......

Oh go on then.

Ah the Jackson Sisters... top tune. Takes me back to when I initially thought I could have a go at being a DJ... thought I'd cover all the bases from rare groove to house to disco.
Great times.

These inspire similar memories.

Got this on rare yellow vinyl

Have a great weekend one and all.

I fkin love that Coffee track. Fair play to you LBlock for going for it and DJ'ing at a high level.

Time for a Sunday Soul Session. I say Leotards, spiffing

Looking forward to tomorrow and seeing the boys I haven't met over the summer.
Hoping for a turn in the weather so it's shorts and outside drinking

Stumbled across this again the other day:-
http://thump.vice.com/en_uk/words/luke-bainsbridge-acid-house

Some classic photo's in there.
Not read it myself from what I recall but must get hold of it for the Piccadilly Line.

By the way Disco.... that Phil Mitchell could resemble myself in the Queen Adelaide tomorrow at about 7.30pm if we've won and played like 1978 Brazil

Have a good weekend all.

I used to love that Grid track Brixton.
Did you know that was Dave Ball who was one half of Soft Cell?

It's a nice tune, very different at the time.

I did know about Dave Ball, I'm pretty sure its mentioned in the Altered States book. I know there's quite alot about Soft Cell in it. They reckoned that the Soft Cell album was the first album (UK at least) made wholly under the influence of E/MDMA ! A great book if you've not read it.

Brixton - for the Grid track I salute you.
I used to love all the ambient stuff when it came out. Ways used to cane KLFs Album after any particularly heavy weekends

Parker - another Nervous banger!

Just when I thought we were running out of legs

Thanks LBlock. The KLF now your talking !

There are so many good tunes that though we may slow down a bit I reckon there's scope to keep going for a good while yet - nothing wrong with the odd rewind either lol

I Enjoyed the foray into HElectro the other week too

I've been listening to this, pretty sure it's not up yet at least it's not on FMR's list, I like both mixes and can't make up my mind so here they both are....

One for Disco the Prog Overlord !

I agree with the comment below that about the Darren Emerson remix of the Black Sky Dub extravaganza 2 - great tune

I'm going to make the Sunderland game now and got my ticket today so already getting excited for next week.

Have a great weekend everyone

Hopefully the sanity of the Frankie Thread one day early might lift the gloom. I was listening to this earlier in the week, I can't remember hearing it on the Thread but sorry if a Spackman

PP and Lblock interesting that as well as having a shared music interest looking at your last posts I'm with you both Rangers wise too.

I was looking forward to my first game of the season on Saturday this time last week...oh well. What's the apple with pubs ? I usually drink in the BQ but might go somewhere else for a change depending on my mates .

Following Parker's lead.... more than happy to do so to!!!

Brixton -- I'm a bit crook at the moment and 50-50 to make the game, usually I'd certainly be there unless under strict quacks orders as I was at the end of last season but the start of this one has just given me de ja vue too much!!! If I'm there I'll be heading to Queen Adelaide which is still my automatic pub of choice but if they repeat the door policy of 2 weeks ago it'll be time to reconsider and head back to C&S or somewhere

Anyway back to the pwopa old skool

Lonnie Liston Smith, loving it !

Sorry to hear your not too well LBlock, Hopefully you'll be OK for tomorrow. Maybe they'll surprise us after what's been an awful week - be a bit of a tonic.

Yeah I think the buzz words of the day is De ja Vue (and maybe self serving) unfortunately

We used to go to the Queen Adelaide until they did it up years ago, I went in there a couple of times last year and thought they had some nice beers. Was in there before Wigan as the BQ was shut and it was rammed. We normally do the BQ before and sometimes after and then head up to the C&S but will maybe try the Adelaide tomorrow. I think Disco is going tomorrow but he's not been on here lately so hope all is good with him

One of the lads I'm going to Rangers with tomorrow is seeing Roy Ayres this evening - lucky git ! This ones a bit obscure but my favourite off the Everybody Loves the Sunshine album
