How many dodgy free kicks do they get?

I just wish that they'd f*ck off home. Really annoying team.

having just come back from spain , i must say i enjoyed them getting destroyed by the dutch last week, people say the english are full of it, blimey this lot are in another league all togther
there wasnt a spaniard left in the centre of calpe when the final whistle went
before hand they were lighting fireworks in the street and telling everyone they would win it again with ease
highlight of the holiday
oh and the endless trips with Mrs P to markets and old towns etc

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

The only time they run with the ball is when they are trying to win a free kick. Not a good team to watch at all.

Finally they're paying for the fact they always pick the King's b*stard Casillas despite the fact he's about the 5th best spanish goalkeeper. With de Gea in goal, they may not have even lost to the Dutch. And he certainly would have dealt with that Chilean free kick.

2-0 down now and their response? Yet another dive to win a free kick.

I just don't get the dislike people have for Spain, they are the best European team ever who've played beautiful football.
I know its a different style to what we're used to in this country, but you can't deny the quality of their game.
It looks like the end of an era for them and the Germans are going to wear the crown in Europe from now on.

Did you watch the last World Cup? They were boring from start to finish, won all their knockout games 1-0. And there wasn't much in it in most of those games.

They basically just passed the ball around with no intention of actually attacking most of the time just to wear their opponents out and then relied on their superior medicine, I mean fitness to nick a goal against tired legs.

Now their fitness is no better they are getting taken to the cleaners.

Whilst Casillas isn't even the best Spanish keeper at Real anymore, De Gea is so incredibly dodgy, he makes Casillas look like Gordon Banks.

I shouldn't give you the rub down you evidently desire with a response, but really, that's right up there with your usual malarkey. Nonsense.

Bloody Philistines.

Apart from Chubbs. Obviously.

Yes they've struggled with a change in approach this WC, everything comes to an end, but the style that won them all the trophies was pure class.

Chile doing a grand job in shutting them out.

When that Spanish bloke missed that open goal, the Spanish commentator on the channel I'm watching starting going "Goooooooooooooaaaaallll" for about a minute before the co-commentator stopped him.

The greats of sport are nearly always classed as boring because they're just so much better than everyone else.
Part of the reason Spain played the possession game was to stop negative managers like Mourino beating them with their defensive dirty football.
Look at the negative aggressive style Holland used against them in the last final, didn't work though as Spain out passed them.
I would love to see England play teams to death like they have for the last decade.

Yeah I'm sick of people slagging off that Brazil 1970 team for being boring.

Different era when both teams just went for it and tactics were far less advanced.
If they tried to play that style in this day and age they'd get picked off by teams, like dare i say it, Spain.
Once the brilliant 82 Brazilian team failed they knew they had to change their style because teams worked out new defensive methods to defeat it.

In the last 8 years, Spain have entered 2 Euros and 1 World Cup,they've won all 3.
Remind me again how many have Holland won?

Nah not having that, it's possible to be a successful side without being completely boring to watch.

Spain have always stuggled when they go behind, they couldn't even break down Switzerland in the last World Cup.

I think we tend to remember sides fondly from a specific time in our lives when we watched them, the 70s Dutch side for instance. For me this was the 82 Brazillian team, who were just great, forget winning.

However you could equally argue that to be a great side you need to have won something. And you could put the French sides in the late 90s early noughties above Holland in the 70s and equal with this Spanish side, if we're talking about results.

Could be the death of ticka tacka though.

I agree. I've really loved watching them - Iniesta and Xavi in particular. The best National team in my adult life by far.

No pity for Ramos or Busquets, though. 'Orrible Ives!

I was too young to appreciate them but Holland of the Seventies were the absolute dogs! Everything about them was damn cool! And losing made them even cooler.
