The irony is going out of this world cup at the group stage having played a lot more positively than we did in Africa, where we were absolute sh*t and we still made it out of the group.
Everyone thinks we are doomed but there is the nucleus of a half decent attacking team for the Euros in a few years.
We also have to look at the likes of Holland, Germany, Chile, Mexico, Columbia, Italy and you can see that we aren't just tenth seeds because no one likes us.
However, I do see a few green shoots of hope. We have lost two games and still been better than in our last two tournaments.

Why wouldn't Italy go out and win both matches, their a good team with good players, maybe a few even playing to a high standard due to other players in the squad pushing for their position, not a problem that ever seems a worry to us.

Just thinking a draw will probably do them at that stage so if not leading with 20 mins to go, I can't see them busting much of a gut for the win. In the 60th odd min of the play off final we had a man sent off and had to play a minimum of 30 odd mins with 10 men, i never thought we would win that game in 90 or 120 mins and i thought our only chance was penaltys.

Can't see it personally. Italy will want to assure classifiaction at the earliest opportunity, ie, tomorrow. On their day and bearing in mind how they played against us, there is no way they should lose to Costa Rica. Surely the diffierence between quality and playing the final game already classified or relying, in part, on England to beat Costa Rica should mean a comfortable win for Italy tomorrow... |  |
