OFF TOPIC - Best way to get Nou Camp Match Tickets 16:31 - Aug 11 with 1951 viewsM40R

Does any one have advice on how best to get tickets for a standard Barcelona home La Liga match? (I won't let it clash with an R's match, promise!)

There are five of us going to the city but only three to the match. Having done lots of online research, there seem to be

Option 1. Buy direct via the club website or ticketmaster. Barca rarely sell out all 99,000 tickets so availability is good. However you have to wait until a few weeks before the match and - judging by current on sale matches - it is hard to get seats together.

Option 2. Buy via a hotel package with the likes of Thomas Cook or SoccerWeekends. Disadvantage is that the seats are high up and the lumped in hotel deals don't work with our party size and nature. Also seem a bit pricey for what you get.

Option 3. But now via Viagogo. They have seats for all season, seated together and "guaranteed". Good availability for most matches. Pricing is however a bit wierd as the ones with clear row numbers are expensive but adjacent ones lacking clear row numbers are far cheaper.

I also understand that the atmosphere can be poor in the high seats. Is is best to pay more and get lower down?

Any tips much appreciated...

A good few years ago (10 ?) mind, we just bourght 5 tickets (together) from the stadium about an hour before kick off, lower tier behind goal. About 35E's each I think. There was 90k+ v Athletico Madrid, 4-0 Ronaldinho & Sa iola scored & Davids got sent off. Great fun.

I'm afraid I cant help save for re-telling my experience
Years and years ago about 18 of us over there for a stag do - saw Barca were at home on the Sunday by chance. We decided we'd have moosy on down and getting tickets cash on the door (but bought prior to kick off) was a cynch.

Our cab then sent text's to the rest holed up at our local bar base and a fleet of cabs duly arrived and we wandered en mass into the nearest tapas bar.
Where everyone already in there shat a pedro sized brick.
They seemed to think we were the opposition hooly firm and then when they heard we were "Eeengleesh" expected us to be a bunch of thugs.
Many cervezas later we were all friends and had a great day -- apart from one of us (me) who made a complete tit of himself looking for a bookies inside the ground!!
YaYa Toure was playing for Barca that day and he got roasted by the home fans in 1st half due to his mistake that put them 1-0 down. 2nd half he came out and tore the place up, scored and Barca won 6-1.

Fantastic city

I have watched games at the Nou Camp on three separate occasions. The first two times I used websites; cannot remember which one exactly and they deliver the tickets to your hotel. Both times they were waiting for me when I checked in.

However, there was a huge mark up, I think almost double face value on one occasion.

The third time I went, I queued up at the stadium on the Saturday morning for the Sunday evening game. Barcelona release a significant amount of ‘last minute’ tickets. The queue was long but not insufferable.

So it’s really a trade-off between the security of knowing you’ve got tickets against risking not getting them but paying significantly less.

I suppose it also depends on whether this is a key part of the trip. My first time I definitely wanted to be at the game. The third time was just a bonus, if I had not got tickets I would have been fine. Plenty of other things to do in the city.

In any case this is expensive but if you can afford it, get seats in the second tier i.e. one level up from ground level, a good view and better atmosphere.

As for getting three together, sorry I cannot help as I’ve always been on my own.

The official website is good but check the date and time of the general sale as they go very quickly. You can print the tickets at the bank atm.

I saw Barca v Villareal several seasons ago. 3-1 to Barca with goals from Messi x2 and Villa.

I bought 5 seats together behind the goal and the view was great.

I went about fifteen years ago and then you had to queue up the day before the game (from memory). Went there and there must have about 150+ English in little groups getting tickets — they all went to the cheap seats up in the sky, so we thought we’d spend a bit more and be sat in with the locals. Got to our seats on the day of the game and must have been 80% English in our block. Atmosphere was pi ss poor all round the stadium, so don’t expect too much (think OT or Anfield on your average matchday). Impressive stadium in terms of size though and a nice city.

When I went to Munich couple years ago I used seatwave website
No problems at all although paid more than a usual local fan
Least you'll get them and together, depends if you mind paying a bit more for them??

I went to the Nou Camp in September last year. Bought tickets from the official Barcelona site with no problems. Easy and safe.

Remember that you won't know the day of the game until a couple of weeks before, because they decide the order of the fixtures for TV very late.

Good point. They make the PL/Sky look super considerate in comparison. You get about ten minutes notice before a game starts.

if you get a chance do the stadium tour on a non match day, only cost a £10 or did when I went, well worth it!

I've often used viagogo, however I've known people to contact their hotel & get them to sort it out, depends on your accommodation I guess...

There's a tourist office in one corner of Plaça de Catalunya, they sell them there. Although when we got there they had run out and the lady told us to go to Camp Nou, we did, it was quick, and we were back in Barcelona in an hour to do other stuff.
