http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/qpr-transfer-news-west-brom-bid-5m-for-

WBA linked with £5m bid. Obviously only the (sub)Standard, but i suspect quite a few prem teams will be eyeing up Phillips after his second half of the season.

This will be another big test for Les - can he either keep a player who Ramsey has stated he wants to keep or will he at least get a big profit from a sale?

Anything less than £8m and we should keep him - and that's good value in today's market.

This is disappointing
I'm sort of resigned to losing Charlie but hoped that Phillips might sneak below the radar

but predictable.

Taking into account the additions and exits to date, I'm at a starting point of 12th place less 4 places per transfer of Austin, Phillips and Fer.

Jack Rodwell went for £10m, there's my minimum benchmark as Phillips is a far better player and less injury prone than that crock.

Test for Les - and test to see if Phillips true to his word.
Sure I read from a reliable source , that Matt said he would stay if Chris R was in charge. So basically....bye bye Matt !

I think £5m is a joke, he showed he was a quality attacking player in the 2nd half od the season and worked very hard, worth £10m in my book compared to other signings. The problem is, as mentioned on another post, we have shown a poor negotiation ability in the past and this is hampering us. Maybe we will see Sir Les' true qualities now, clearly Beard wasn't up to scratch.

£8m+ or fark off.

Need some decent players to even have a shot at doing well next season.

Not sure how long he has left on his contract but the club should be able to say no unless the money is good enough

But Rodwell went to City. They pretty much have to double the price of what mid-table teams would be prepared to pay.
I don't agree with it, but doubt we'd get much more than £5m. Half of those on here were happy to see him flogged for a cut price deal to Wigan in January.
Agree £8m seems a fairer fee, but can't see that happening. Might depend on the player a bit, although the club might want/need the cash.

Bare bones.

Just keep him. If we get £15m for Austin, and £8m for Sterling, + all those wages off the books from former players, then we have done well enough for the transfer window, thats at least £30m gained, with the possibility of money for Fer and Caulker. Keep Phillips, he is a class player that will only perform better in the Championship.

They need to be paying more than we bought him for!

Not always that simple though. If he wants to go, better to negotiate a price before he puts a transfer request in.

Why does it matter if he put a transfer request in (bar maybe team "morale")

The way I understood it; is all a transfer request is does is publically announce an intention of the player to move and legally have the player forego any unpaid remnants of his signing on fee (which a lot of the time are in part spread over the term of the players contract).

Clubs don't even have to accept the transfer request?

If we don't make a reasonable profit (8m +) id be tempted to keep him until Jan. The fact he has 2 years left on his ticket means we don't need to sell, unlike Austin.

We bought him for 5 million, why would we sell him for the same after the season he has had? Replacements for him even in the championship could easily be around the 5 million mark... We aren't just magically gonna pick up an ideal replacement for 250k each time a player of ours gets coveted by other teams. Let's not let our best assets go just because we feel as though they deserve to play in the top tier - they deserve us to honour the contracts that we have made with them. Hold out for 10m and use 5-7m on the next best winger outside them premier league

No, in the two seasons he has had he had a good first half in the Championship, with some great assists (Blackpool away) and goals (Bournemouth home) got unfortunately injured, got pushed out of the team by Vargas due to Redknapp being an idiot, then was probably our best player in the second half of the season when actually starting. Not his fault in the two seasons he has had he has been injured for one half and unused in another

I think we should hold out for £35 million.

I definitely keep Phillips over Fer - Phillips has proven he can rip up the Championship.

Surely the Austin money, plus Fer and a cut of Sterling's transfer should mean we can hold out of selling to any desultory offers.

With the massive overhead reductions which will be achieved from June 30 onwards plus the parachute payments there is actually no reason to sell anybody just for the money. Phillips as somebody said could well rip up the championship and I also fancy Fer to do the same under strong management and coaching. Sell because we are under pressure from certain players to do so maybe but no to raise money. Our cashflow without sales will look very healthy next season.

Lets keep all our best players who continue to be contracted at the very least until January to see if we can get back to the Prem a bit sharpish.

The Standard who yesterday said our key player this year will be Richard Dunne, who this time last year said we were going to raise funds by "cashing in" on Stephane Mbia a fortnight before his contract expired, and once said we were signing Roberto Baggio. I'm not manning the barricades just yet.

by his own admission he was dropped by Redknapp as he wasn't playing well and was really struggling for form after his injury. he was dreadful in that Liverpool home game and replaced by Vargas who scored a couple so kept his place on the right

How longs left on his contract?
if 2 years plus keep him to chrimbo if we in the soup sell him then if we look like we can get playoffs keep him until the end of the season and see what the story is.

he has not said he wants to leave and I would also say the money we receive from Austin and Fer and if we get a few quid from sterling getting sold should mean we should be able to keep him....

2 more seasons, Dave. Contracted until June/July 2017. Same as Fer.

Personally, I'd want £8m for either him (double what we paid) or Fer (money back).
But once 1 went, I'd close the window on the other.

Of course, ideally I'd keep all 3, but above is more realistic.
