Are we the top spenders in the Championship? 12:43 - Aug 14 with 4415 viewsadhoc_qpr

Just glancing around the transfers Championship this summer and i noticed we must be the top spender in terms of outlay (although obviously we've recouped a fair bit with Sterling, McCarthy and Caulker).

We must have spent around £10-11m if we assume Ream is joining us.

As far as i can see Sheffield Weds, Hull, Boro, Derby and Burnley have all spend around £5-6m but nobody any higher.

Amazing the money sloshing around the lower half of the prem in comparison.

Where have you got that from? I don't think the 2 Swindon boys cost more than 1.5 - 2m for the pair. Perch 700k, Chery 1.75m, Konchesky small loan fee, Polter - No idea, no more than 1-2m though, Mackie free, JET free and if Ream happens - 1.75m

I reckon that's around 6-7m, tops.

In we've had 1.2m from Caulker loan fee, 3m for McCarthy and 9m odd from Sterling sale.

add another £4M onto Middlesborough...

but even so, you have Brizzle putting in £6M bids, Boro willing to spend over £10M on a striker so my perception is we weren't flexing financial muscle as much as others - we have done a lot of smaller £1m+ trasnfers though.

I suppose the other thing to remember is income... we have made a profit on trasnfers this summer... have the others?

I don't think it's anywhere near that. Been told Luongo had a release clause of less than 1m. It's all undisclosed of course and deals may include more based on appeearances, promotion and so on, but I don;t think the initial outlay is more than a million or two.

I thought it was:
- Swindon pair = £3.5m
- Chery = £1.75m
- Hall = £ circa £1m???
- Polter = circa £1m
- Perch = £700k
- JET = £FREE
- Mackie - £FREE
- Konchesky = £LOAN so FREE

So far, about £7m outlay; with £3.5m (McCarthy), £9m (Sterling) and £1.5m-£2m (Caulker) coming in in fees; not to mention a pretty fortune off the wage bill.

WTF do I know though eh?

The fees are pretty speculative but i've seen:

£2.25m Chery
£3.5m for Luongo and Gladwin combined
£1.75m for Ream
£1m for Perch
£1m for Polter
Undisclosed for Hall

So about £10m or so in total.

Obviously we've recouped a fair bit thanks to Sterling, cut loads of wages and Charlie's sales will go a long way towards balancing the books overall too.

I was just surprised as it feels like we've been pretty conservative.

Good point about Boro and Derby going for less numbers but big money signings though (Downing and Ince).

A loan fee for Konchesky????
I refuse to believe even we're that mental!

Think that's about right except Hall was a lot cheaper. I heard it was more like 200k from someone who's pretty knowledgeable about Spurs development team.

Correct £7.2 spent so far.

£1.75m for Luongo, Gladwin & Chery
£1m Polter
£700k Perch
£200k Hall (less than Brizzle paid for Fredericks £250k)
JET, Mackie, Goburn & Blackwood all Free
Konchesky loan (minimal fee)

So possibly £7.5m with loan fee

Ream if he signs, is widely reported at £1.4m

So we are the top spenders (at the moment), but only by million or two.

And i'm guessing we are probably only second behind Hull in terms of income received from player sales so far.

2.25m for Chery was in Euros, so £1.75m for his release clause.
We never paid £3.5m for Luongo and Gladwin, no way
£1.75 for Ream, upped froma starting point of £1m apparently
£700k for Perch
No idea on Polter, £1m seems about right
Not sure on Hall but he was allowed to go on trial with us first so doubt he cost much at all

We have been conservative, I reckon we have shelled out about 50% of what we have got in transfer fees alone.

Yeah i reckon we just contribute to his wages, but I was over estimating just in case! Hopefully it's just a few k to get him here and be cover until the likes of YSY and Robinson arrive. From what I have seen I would be happy with Kpekwa ahead of Konchesky, but javing the latter there means less pressure for the young lad

Fulham are apparently bidding £8m for Gayle, so we might be able to add them to the big spenders list soon.
