Looked like he wanted to take that penalty, retrieved the ball after ref gave it, walked with it towards the spot hoping that Charlie would say "all yours mate" No chance though.

Can you blame him? *polter has been very good so far he hasn't really had a sniff at a league goal yet.

but Charlie is the penalty taker so fair enough imo

I sat in upper loft today, i also would have loved to take the pen but i am not the teams pen taker. Polter will learn the pen taking rules.

I don't think spectators are allowed to take penalties.

Polter looks like a light heavyweight boxer. I hope that he establishes himself and really settles in.

That was the funniest moment for us - we were laughing about it on the way home. Polter picks up the ball and marches towards the spot. Charlie realises that he hasn't got the ball yet and walks up to Polter. Some sort of conversation and then Charlie points his finger at Polter and takes the ball. Charlie scores and a few players come over to congratulate him whilst Polter, who stood right behind him for the kick, just turns around and walks back towards the centre spot. Very funny.

Pretty sure he celebrated the goal post-penalty with Austin

If the score was 3-0, Chery gets the penalty for his hat-trick. At 3-2 it goes to the designated Penalty taker, Austin

Can we not knock it?

Hat trick should mean nothing. Club should know who the best penalty taker is and he should take it. Especially at 3-2 facing a potential nightmare scenarion.

No. He was the first one to celebrate with Charlie after the pen had gone in. Went off almost immediately afterwards.

Agreed. The guy behind me wanted Chery to take it and I said the same thing. 3-0 up, 90th minute, let the guy try and get his hat-trick. 3-2 up with our defence, only one choice.

Nope, trudged back to the half way line as soon as the ball hit the back of the net.

Like the look of him though, good strength and seems to play as a target man very well. If charlie does go he could be a good link up for the attacking midfielders that we now appear to have.

I think Jeff is referring the Chery, not Polter.

We are a professional football club, Charlie is the designated penalty taker, we get a penalty, he should take it, whatever the match situation!

Following on the BBC ticker thing, its noticeable that the sentence 'Foul Sebastien Polter (Queens Park Rangers)' shows up a lot.

I suspect if there is any trading to be done, he won't run 50 yards to get into the fight and then wimp out upon arrival a la Nygaard!

The goal he got at Yeovil and the goal he made today were down to tenacity. An obstinate refusal to give up on a half chance.
I like him.

Strong and stable my arse.

Polter is a big, heavy, cumbersome, buffalo like lump. He runs about like Bambi on steroids. He looks like he has never heard of football.

The real problem is...

He's a f*cking nightmare to play against. As he proved in the few minutes he was on yesterday. Winning the penalty secured the game. Everytime he got near a ball he drew three defenders because he's the size of a f*cking tree. And despite the cumbersome, buffalo, boxing bambi style of play he actually can flick a ball on, see a pass and probably finish as well. With players like Chery, Luongo, Mackie, Phillips etc he will free up an awful lot of space for those players to slip into for scoring chances.

So, he may be ugly to watch but I think he will freak out a lot of defenders this season.

Never knowingly right.

Should've been given the penalty. In all likelyhood he's our main striker in 10 days, could do with the confidence boost of his first league goal.

As said all summer, I fancy him to be amazing for us.

And the "confidence boost" if he had missed. Imagine the stick from the crowd really not worth taking the chance. AS has been stated in other posts 3-0 and it might have been different.
