I watched the last episode of line of duty and thought that was good. Undercover has finally grabbed by attention. I quite like some of the investigative programmes Stacey Dooley does. However I can't wait for the next series of people just do nothing.

The Germans get a sort of good press in this.

I need to read up more on this, I'd barely heard of the Ukrainian nationalists.

The film is banned in the Ukraine apparently. (I can see why)

Been on a posting hiatus, so just spotted this. Bad blood between Poles, Russians and Ukrainians goes way back, but for the 20th century history I can recommend Timothy Snyder’s Bloodlands and Anne Applebaum’s Iron Curtain. Horrific.

Actually, wind that back a bit, you might want to read this as well.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vanquished-Why-First-World-Failed/dp/0374282455
The collapse of the three regional empires, Russia, Austria and Prussia after WW1 saw the return of Poland for the first time in 150 years and of Ukraine, briefly, for the first time in about 1,000. The Poles thought their boundaries should match that of Poland-Lithuania at its greatest extent, though that included most of putative Ukraine. The Polish Army briefly occupied Kiev, until the Red Army pushed them back to Warsaw for a while. Though the Poles fought them off, Ukraine disappeared (and was punished by famine), while Stalin got his revenge on the Poles under the cover of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. Then after the Nazis were defeated, Poland was shifted to the left...

Better Call Saul new episodes being released weekly and it's probably the best TV show out there at the moment. If you watched Breaking Bad before it just adds to it. Bob Odenkirk is unbelievable, he was good in BB but given the spotlight he's so good...

Almost finished S2 of Ozark which is better than the first season IMO, worth a watch but very dark and a little bit far fetched in places.

I’m almost finished watching Killing Eve..... bloody entertaining and Jodie whatshername floats my boat.

I also quite enjoyed Press. That’s got to be based on Piers Morgan, what an absolute clunge of a man.

Good stuff floating around on the box at the moment

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Don’t know if anyone else has caught this but one of the best things I’ve seen for ages is a Chilean series called “Fugitives” which you can get on Walter Presents on All 4. It’s about four guys caught up in a drug deal that goes spectacularly wrong and the locations, the plotting and the acting make it a really good watch. Just re-watched series 1 that I saw a year ago in preparation for series 2 which is now available.

Bodyguard spoiler alert!

I thought they blew it badly when they killed off Keeley Hawes' Home secretary - the relationship between her and Madden was what made it so tense and watchable - a case of a plot twist gone wrong IMO. It had tension after that, but it became something of plod (which is a pun I guess) and the final reveal was underwhelming.

I enjoyed the ludicrous black comedy thriller Killing Eve, Jody Comer is fantastic as the psycho killer and Sandra Oh is excellent as Eve (remember her from the film Sideways which I loved).

Watching Mystery Road on iplayer at the moment, a throughly enjoyable detective thriller set in the outback.

Watched first episode of Haunting of Hill House last night, looks pretty good. Modern remake of spooky classic.

Also watched first episode of Sharp Objects with Amy Adams. Slow but watchable, I hear it picks up.

Yeah I ended up smashing through this in a few days, got totally hooked on it. Ep5 "Bent Neck Lady" and ep6 "Two Storms" were amazing television. Just finished the last episode and still digesting it. I found it really moving because I was invested in the characters and the writing is very good (the stuff between old Hugh and Olivia about their marriage and their kids, and the metaphor about keeping them safe by keeping them in the house was well done I thought), but I also couldn't help thinking it was getting a bit over-cooked in places, especially by the time the weepy acoustic ballad faded in....

Still, fantastic tv over all, and certainly the best horror genre TV show I've seen. And a genuinely profound meditation on trauma for the most part.

Did you know most episodes have quite a few "hidden" ghosts in shot? Some are actually quite obvious and i started spotting them towards the end.

This one under the piano is pretty creepy

I thought it peaked mid season during episodes five and six but overall I was very impressed and the ending wasn't too daft which is sometimes difficult with a horror like this.

The acting was great and really pulled on the heart strings which again is not always easy in the horror genre.

I hadn't noticed the 'hidden' ghosts which adds to the overall creepiness. I did nearly jump out of my seat and hit my head on the ceiling at the car scene in the penultimate episode!!

Just watched this and found it totally underwhelming, and I'm usual a big fan of the show. It was like a poor imitation of Ghost Watch from the early 90s. Maybe you needed to watch it live?

Can't remember why now, but when i first watched Better Call Saul, soon after Breaking Bad finished, I wasn't in to it at all. But it's been mentioned on this thread a few times --
I think by Simmo? -- so I've given it another go, and I now realise it is excellent.
