Not even in the Championship yet and he is coming across really bitter. Well for his sake i hope they don't go down as i can't see them going up any time soon. But my predictions for teams have been woeful in the past.

Agree with you. Some mild self delusion going on as well. I find a struggle to conceive of any time when playing Newcastle would feel like "our Cup Final." They mean little to me other than a team that overachieved for a short time but are now owned and run by despicable people and supported by many with a sense of self entitlement. That could be said of many clubs I know, and I know most Newcastle fans are fine and decent people, but those that have little knowledge of the days before Sir John Hall annoy me.

Never knowingly understood

The 2009/10 average attendance for Newcastle in the championship was over 43,000. Not exactly cut out for the same division as Rotherham.

Oh dear. I feel very sorry for them. It must be horrible travelling to Rotherham and sitting in a nice seat where you can see the pitch.

I won't be going to Newcastle as long as they only sell me an overpriced seat quarter of a mile away from the goal at the other end of the pitch.

(Well I might. It is a cracking town for an overnighter )

People like going to Newcastle away cos it's a vaguely jolly town where you can get royally smashed on a tenner, not because of some misplaced sentiment of history.

Also a newcastle fan criticising other teams for being workman like. I haven't laughed so much since ma caught her tits in the mangle

I took it as 'tongue in cheek' and thought it was very funny.

Rotherham will be there Cup Final. They'll be lucky, with that same squad, not to sink into the third tier.
Cracking town for an overnighter, the football club, led by the low lifes that currently run it, is a by-product of the town itself and not much more.

Most of its fine, but the Newcastle FA Cup quarter final bollox and the rubbish about the bitter fans referring to 1980s games highlights how a lot of Newcastle fans still believe they are and feel entitled to being a big club. They've not been at the races for the better part of decade, give or take a season or two.

I like Newcastle / Tyne & Wear in general. Never had a problem with the team or the fans('cept when we walked into the Loft one day and found hundreds of 'em in residence), but what I've never liked is the stadium. For all the twaddle talked, the place lacked atmosphere, then they enlarge and it's even worse. There has always been something wrong with the design and it's not just to do with the small side.

Poll: Thank God The Seaons Over.

Last time we were on the back row of the away end. Lovely view of the city, but a compelling case for watching on TV

Welcome home, Newcastle. You are now the second smallest professional club in the North East.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer Chairman.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

That really was a surreal footballing experience, being so high up. I swear I could see the curvature of the earth on the horizon.
