I Went to the Theatre . Aged 48 and a half. 10:34 - Jun 26 with 9238 viewsDiscodroids

I crossed the Rubicon of the Luvvie Matrix yesterday for the first time in my 48 and a half years of Puff. I Went to see 'Sideways' at the st James Theatre In Victoria yesterday and it was like hearing a Jah wobble bassline for the first Time. I loved it.

Years ago My previous 'Theatre' experience would have been Going to the kings Head to watch a few strippers with Ugly weeping , recent cesarean scars , singing for their supper by picking up £1 coins off the bar with their spiced ham flaps before working me way thru a couple of gram of petrol washed quakers oats , 8 pints of export , nobbys nuts (dry roasted) and a Violent row with the mrs .

I may be free from the Jackboot Yoke of my working class roots and embracing cous cous and Melvyn Bragg now but I dont care. It was Wonderful .I was plugged into the 4th dimensional matrix like Charles Xavier from the X men nursing a Vim bottle with a Beating sheeps heart on top In his Cerebral chambers. Gorging on and Processing the Sensory overload of unknown pleasures

Any recommendations ? ( I haven't taken up the extract from the coca plant again but feel like it with my new addiction) .

No musicals though please lads !.

Haven't been for ages but am going to an open air production of Life's A Dream' next week. No doubt, the thespian arts will be enhanced by clouds of biting mosquitos and driving rain. At least there's a bar.

I did have a few pints in the Phoenix pub next door before the play, an excellent selection of fine ales, so perhaps that augmented my enjoyment.

Its a brave new world Dorse. And i intend to feast like theres no tomorrow.

This time next week I'll know' Martin Chuzzlewit' off by heart.

Went to see Glengary Glenross a few years back starring the dude who's now the High Sparrow in Game of Thrones. Was a pretty good modern day production. I liked the movie adaptation too with Shouty Al

Since I split my theatrical hymen so to speak it been shows with very much a music slant

Never thought I'd enjoy it but it's a great (but sometimes prices) night out with the missus
As mentioned Jersey Boys is cracking (seen it 4 times - once on Broadway in NY which was class); enjoyed The Rat Pack and also Million Dollar Quartet was brilliant and looking forward to seeing that again in Richmond next Feb.

The most recent one which really surprised me was Beautiful. A great show telling the story of singer songwriter Carol King. I recommend that combined with a bit of grub on the edge of Covent Garden

Don't drop your monacle into your pint of Nelson.....

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Sounds like a plan Glenn, especially as a lot of the tickets are for gigs at scumford bridge, always fell dirty going in there, but to be fair I've seen some great bands in there.

Not seen them since Christmas, see the girls who are older, spoke on the phone to them on fathers day which was emotional, hopefully get to see them at my grand daughters christening next month, spoke to the ex and her hands have been tied by social services who have the impression I'm a violent psycho despite never laying a finger on her or my kids.
She agreed for me to see them finally only for the family support worker to intervene, my dad has told me All along that they are men hating lesbians!

Don't go to the theatre that often, but always enjoyed the West End as a youth and included all the luvvie lark in with the other attractions. Mrs Boston is not a fan, her one excursion resulted in David Bowie telling her to shut up and sit down.

...oh, I should mention that she did not recognize Mr Bowie, she is not a fan of him either.
