The club holds the financial details of every single season ticket holder and according to Lee Hoos there is 10,000 of us. If he wrote to every single one of them suggesting that they each make a one off payment of £3 then this covers the £30,000 suggested in this article to cover the cost of hosting the game, I am sure that there would not be one single person who would object to this, and in addition, many I am sure would make an additional payment. It would be great that a game could be organised against Manchester City, Stan's first club and first footballing love. Such a game ought to fill Loftus Road and could be organised as part of pre-season for next year. Just thinking outside the box sometimes solutions can be found. For those who never saw Stan play may never understand the importance he was to our club. Rodney Marsh brought the name of QPR to the footballing public and Stan was the man that established the name. He truly was the King of Loftus Road and remains so. What Adel could do, Stan could do, but Stan was with us for a fantastic seven years, and never really wanted to leave when Gregory sold him to Forest. God bless you Stan.

I'd rather it was Crewe or Carlisle than a bunch of self-important reserve team City players. But that's just a personal thing. If City reserves did bring in the money then so be it...

Wouldn't the 45 000 QPR fans who went to Wembley fill the place between them whoever we had as the other team? It is Stan after all...

Two thirds of those at Wembley were glory hunting fair weather fans that turn up when the sun is shining.

As for this money raising, I repeat what I've said all along. Set up a just giving page for donations. I would rather cut out a middle man.For a testimonial match you have to pay for matchday staff plus if you want Man City to come down they won't do it for free. All that money is wasted in my eyes. You also can't guarantee that we would sell the ground out which would be essential to pass the break even point let alone raise funds for the cause. The Simon Barker game aside, all testimonials at Loftus Rd have been abysmally attended and I've been to about 7 or 8 over the years.

Not sure I agree with that fair weather comment.
I managed to get three tickets for mates and my brother who aren't able to go much these days but used to go home and away back in the 80s. Two went to every game one year and one lives in Sweden.
I felt they had earned the right to go to such a big game. I would imagine there are a lot of similar situations to this.

There's already been Just Giving pages set up before.

https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/StanBowlesTributeLunch

They targetted 30k and got to £1,120...

https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/stanbowlesday

This one targetted 10k and have got to £6928.30

In total, both had 86 contributors to help Stan....

The sums raised so far suggest that all these people claiming we can raise 30k, have a sellout testimonial at Loftus Road, etc are rather wide of the mark.

I think that's part of the reason the club haven't had a game yet. It would end up losing money which is not what anyone wants. Far better for everyone to donate to the existing funds or set up their own one and give the money directly to Stan's family rather than see it all or a large percentage spent in arranging something...

On the funding issue - this article makes it sound like paying for his care is a much more pressing issue than one last adulation, in which case I agree why do we need a match? it will be an expense that will take out of the cash. Set up a justgiving and it all goes to Stan, and we can gift aid it too

I would have thought this game would be different to other testimonials, I'm sure several of my family members would go who haven't been to loftus road for years. But I might be wrong, and possibly promoting just giving pages as has been suggested might be better. I didn't particularly like the tone of the article slagging the club off though, they did the Stan bowled day and may yet do something, so I felt it was a bit unjustified

I'm not sure a football match is the way to go. I think a concert would raise way more. Get Pete Doherty and baby shambles, Michael Nyman and Orchestra followed by Glen matlock and friends. Sell out the Odeon in minutes.
