Why stop now, just when I'm hating it
Poll: Is it essential that QPR stay in the Borough of H&F?

Not at all surprised given bans handed out to players much further down the football pyramid for much lesser offences of this sort.

What were the odds on him getting banned?

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

I still haven't figured out how he got a free pass from our fans after he refused to play for us, went to Marseille, continued to slag us off and didn't exactly rip up trees when he came back (and was made captain).

11 paragraphs in, after typically trying to justify himself he mentions he bet on his own teams to lose matches! One of the biggest wronguns to ever play football and there's some serious company.

pause a moment and reflect on the fact the Fa have got it right for once.

And hopefully broadcasters and media outlets will not want to employ someone who has been discredited like this.

looking at that betting slip I do think he has a right to appeal the length of the ban. I mean some of those bets were for 2 quid. If the pattern had been that all the bets were on qpr or burnley or rangers matches which he took part in then fair enough but 2 quid on Newcastle to beat sunderland 2-1 is hardly prolific.

doesn't matter if it is 2 quid or 2 grand he made over 1,000 bets on football and backed his own team to lose on several occasions. The rules are pretty clear that you can't bet on football if you are a footballer. He deserves all he gets

As mentioned above

http://www.joeybarton.com/betting-statement/

"Raised at the hearing was that between 2004 and 2011 I placed a handful of bets on my own team to lose matches. I accept of course that this is against the rules, for the obvious reason that a player with an additional financial stake in the game might seek to change the course of it for his own personal gain. However I’d like to offer some context. "

He says 15000 bets since 2004 - 1200 of them on football- and his average bet was £150

That could be around 2.2m depending on his definition of average

Me neither and he had his name sung at the last home game against Newcastle after he had slagged off a club legend Rodney Marsh, then again we do have some proper divs supporting us

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Quite angry about not playing in the PSV friendly then!

The addicted to gambling part is nonsense, as he said himself he placed 15,000 bets in the period - 1,200 of them on football.

There are literally thousands of bets and any amount of live sport to bet on everyday without having to bet on matches involving his own club.

The ban on betting on football is not about protecting footballers from gambling addiction - if that were the case they would be banned from betting on anything!

Total outlay: £3,682.50
Total return: £498.60

Similar ratio to his pass completion rate.

Glad the ban effectively puts him into early retirement. He's done nothing but bring football into disrepute since he emerged as a player and nothing else will stop him.

In a statement on his website, Barton stressed that " at no point in any of this is my integrity in question".

Utterly delusional

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

This is in line with suspensions given to non league players & officials. I admit that I had expected the FA to be more lenient with Barton though!

His statement is beyond believe. However, he is right that his integrity is not in doubt. Most of the footballing population absolutely know what you are Mr. Barton!

No sympathy at all.

He is that low that he is now making himself out to be a gambling addict ,
no doubt the likes of Oldham will take him and adam Johnson on in a years time
