His return the catalyst for a decent run of performances last season, particularly at Reading. Worth having, can play a few positions, sets good standards for himself and demands them of others, applies himself as you'd want a player to and proved his fitness by being fully available for majority of the season.

We're not overloaded with players with a rapport with the fans. Most of them look indifferent and a few of the younger ones look a bit scared. On that level alone I've got no problem with him being part of the squad. Beats Karl Henry moaning to the local paper about his wages. |  | | |

You can hire a fat middle aged Northern comedian for that kind of thing. Much cheaper too....and probably better at football. Mackie is a waste of a space in the squad.

I think he looked good in our unbeaten run as the rest of the team was also in good form, when we were struggling I don't think he did much to inspire or lift the other players - not sure he's worth a new deal. |  |
