We're watching Scowen and Freeman show him how to be a midfielder.

I didn't notice that much from the invisible man yesterday but I'm sure you'll tell me he was out there.

Never change.

Edit: yesterday his pass completion rate was 10 percentage points higher than Freeman and had the ball 32% more than him too. Wow. Much invisible. Such learning.

Edit edit: he also made the most tackles of the whole team. Crickey, I'd hate to see those stats if he was actually involved eh

And I'm on tonight
You know my stats don't lie
And I'm starting to feel it's right
All the attraction, the tension
Don't you see baby, this is perfection

Really? I thought he was good (again). Doesn't he tackle/intercept more than any other player? That's some invisible man.

You're like Donald Trump when it comes to Luongo, Steve. Blatant disregard and disinterest in facts or trying to be objective. You've decided, 12 months ago, that he's not good enough and won't ever be. How he plays is now irrelevant.

I thought he was comfortably the best player on the pitch yesterday. Robith's stats seem to back that up. How you can say he was invincible is Trump alternative reality at its finest.

Had him down as my MoM yesterday. Looking really strong, won a couple of 40/60 he had no right to.

Not sure why we have to have threads calling out people wth different opinions though, under the guise of banter. More like goading, it's obviously going to turn in to the usual childish bun-fight.

Whoa Hunterhoop, this is a banter thread according to Robith. Pants on fire.

He had a good game to be fair, though I certainly didn't describe him as invincible.

I see him as a lad riding his first bike, with Scowen and Freeman as his stabilisers.

I thought he had a great game for us , but then he is playing further forward now and we are starting to see the best of him.

He was no James Perch yesterday but IMO he was the best of our 3 midfielders. Freeman definitely had an off day yesterday and Scowen made a few rash challenges which he needs to cut out of his game or he will be spending some time kicking his heels in the future.

The grass is always greener.

Bloody awesome player, shame he's buggering off to Oz very soon for the blockbuster double header against the Marshall Islands and Kiribati...or something like that.

erm... throw another shrimp on the barbie?

I am not sure if yesterday was his best game ever, but the amount of times he comes away with the ball from tackles, 50/50s when the ball is bobbing around, and catching the opposition on the ball is astounding.

Which reminds me, I think we are getting better at playing taller teams. Some games last season our midfield players just watched the ball fly overhead and couldn't really get into the game.

I was surprised at the praise for Perch as I thought he made a few errors at cb - admittedly he was playing injured so I wouldn't be too harsh on him. But his stats were huge - 14 interceptions overall, Perch made 6 of them!

Haters? Surely not. He might not get enough goals for us as of yet, but there are far worse players around than Mass, he's pretty tidy. The whole midfield three of Scowen with Freeman and Mass ahead has a nice balance about it.

Vastly improved. Heavier, tougher.

Another vote here for Massachusetts Luongo, not sure why, but there's something familiar about him which I haven't been able to put my finger on.

Luongo, Bidwell and Perch have been much improved so far this season which along with the addition of Scowen has made a big difference with the level of team performance.

Lost me spectacles on the way to the game but got there for the full 90 minutes.

Thought we were a lot better after Luongo was substituted.

Luongo was my MOTM against Reading, very good yesterday.

Luongo Haters on 16:18 - Aug 20 with 4720 viewsBromleyHoop

Luongo rarely seems to take an easy option and play the ball backwards or sideways. His first touch whenever possible is always one that makes him turn and push towards goal. His stats from last year also don't lie. Really good player and will only get better with time. Helped out by having Scowen behind him this could be a really good season for him. Needs to score 10 goals though...which seems unlikely.

If you criticise (on here not at the game) you are not a "hater" its the wrong word .I have posted critiscism on here about Luongo mostly about his consistency and sometimes about his ability to play a short pass in tight situation and frustrated by his trips across the world and losing him for 3 games afterwards . Happy to say he has addressed the first two so far and looks to be part of a decent trio .

Sorry, autocorrect. Was quoting you saying he was "the invisible man".

Anything but!

And you sure you know which player he is?! Better after he was subbed? When was he subbed then? Pretty sure he played the full game!

Banter or no banter, you have an irrational, illogical, indefensible view on a player, which you settled on 12 months ago, and won't change regardless of reality and what happens in front of you!

"Better after he was subbed"...he wasn't subbed.

"The invisible man"...stats show he was more involved and better than the rest of the midfield.

Keep making up that narrative, Steve C Trump.

Scowen and Luongo were the best players on the pitch yesterday, our 3 in midfield is the best part of our team atm and Luongo a huge part of that.
