Will obviously get a lower offer from QPR compared to what he's on now. Hopefully his injury problems will mean other clubs will be cautious about taking him on. I doubt he will want to be without a club come the summer. Hope he sticks with us...

Be interesting to see how this goes. Had it on very good authority that he's on substantially more than QPR could afford and had interest from elsewhere before Christmas. Hope he stays, big success story this season.

Just hope he accepts a "slightly" lower offer! (from us of course!)

The starting point when engaging with GWL must be this is going to be bollox

This prejudice is necessarily enhanced when you have to click through a survey to read the article

Then when you go "fcking hell they've got actual quotes" you have to work out where they've lifted them from and more importantly do these quotes have any connection to their click-bait headline.

The quotes would have come from his agent ringing GWL.

He's a young lad with a lot of injury issues. I would understand if he sought to secure his financial future elsewhere. While it would be very disappointing, I certainly would wish him the very best compared to a few who have departed LR recently.

To think we paid that waste of space SC millions for sweet FA, when we could have put it in the pot for JR.

Think he will end up being our Player of the Season. Been a standout defender, has shown passion and has Birmingham away as a Hollywood moment.

His quotes are honest in that article and I think he will probably leave in the summer. It will be a huge shame If he does go as he's got so much potential. Even worse if we lose him on a free but it looks like FFP has us over a barrel.

Can be prone to over playing and has been caught out once or twice (Ipswich away springs to mind) but it hasn't lead directly to a goal and it's one criticism that I'm sure will be coached out or he'll self adjust as he gets older.

I do wonder what he's on a week that puts him out of our bracket? £10k - £20k?? Surely no more???

Especially annoying when SC admits he spent 70% down the bookies.

Would love to keep Jack. Been one of our stand out players this season. But can’t see it happening for financial reasons. Wish him luck wherever he goes.

He must be on a pretty decent wage considering he came from Liverpool and was signed under Redknapp when wages were being thrown at people, will be a real shame if he goes considering how the club stood by him during his injury problems, i don't think he'll be short of offers though

Real shame if he goes but if he does I really hope it’s for footballing reasons. Financiallly speaking outside of the world of football he should already be made for life. Just assuming we are paying £20k a week on a four year deal is £4m over the contract. He must have been on at least £10k a week at Liverpoool for a few years. Presumably we’ll be offering at least £10k a week on a 3 year deal? So being conservative that’s £7m in earnings. That equates to mere mortal earning approx £140k a year for 50 years.

We have spent 3 years paying him whilst he’s been injured and he’s now had 30 or so very good games for us. But Over 4 years that’s a very average return.

If there was any loyalty in football he would re-sign on a reduced deal. But if he doesn’t I hope he goes somewhere looking to get in the Prem or a Prem club. If it’s for the money, it’s a real shame!

Loyalty.... a word that has been tippexed out of the football dictum

Jack is now showing produce of his potential but as a club I’d say we’ve only grabbed what, 18 games worth? Through the vast majority of his time on our books he has been on loan at Huddersfield (developing) or out with two long term injuries. It’s the long term injury periods that do it for me - paid handsomely and the club invested yet more resources in getting him fit.
I know people say that’s the risk on both sides but I just feel if he signed another two years and stayed fit we’d see real value for money and it would be a two way street

Looks like he’s off and begrudgingly I say fair play to him; he won me round

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Agreed - He really does owe us after the time he has spent injured and a two year deal on the best we can afford would not kill him but you just know that he will be off to the highest bidder when the season ends, fingers crossed Les and Lee can work some magic.

I think any of us in his shoes would be off. Real shame as he really could go to the top IMO. There can’t be that many better left-sided centre-halves and now there’s a fashion for 3-5-2 there’s extra demand.

"It's in the hands of my agent now".

Ah, right, so any chance of you acknowledging how well the club have stood by you when you were crocked? No, oh well, 'bye then Jack...

Good luck to him; he's entitled to market himself and if we really can't afford him, then so be it...

Can we go out yet?

Sadly, he doesn't owe us anything. We paid him for a service - he got injured while doing that service. Are we suggesting if a player gets injured we should be able to ditch them? Fans have a cheek talking about loyalty - if Robbo wasn't any good people would be calling him a parasite sucking blood out the club. The double standards of some fans (not aiming this at you mate) are amazing sometimes.
If he can get a better offer elsewhere - and yes, money should only be a part of that, not the only consideration, but an important one nonetheless - he'd be stupid not to take it. And good luck to him - he's shown great character to fight his way into the side this season, and along with Smithies and Freeman and possibly Luongo and Scowen, is certainly a contender for player of the season.

Bare bones.

im not bothered if he stays or goes if truth be told, yes he has been decent this year but some make him out to be the re incarnation of Glen Roeder , I cannot see that many clubs queuing up to sign him if he is on 20k a week and no way should we be contemplating it its his first full season in long while , so let him go and wish him well if he thinks he can get it
im pretty sure Penrice, Les & Mel Johnson have some other youngsters lined up to replace him

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Would be a real shame if he goes. Quality player, but money talks i'm afraid and can see a Derby type club blowing us out of the water in terms of wages.

However, wouldn't it be great if he did sign a new contract having been injured for the best part of two years. Although I know the clubs decision to send him on loan to Huddersfield left him surprised.

We would need to spend a good deal to have him replaced adequately.

I understand people's sentiments , but he is possibly our highest paid player at the moment. He was signed by Redknapp/Beard to play in the Premier for Rangers at Premier prices. Why Harold then sent him to Huddersfield & loaned in an inferior past his best left back is one of the wonders of the modern world!

Can the club get away with offering him a contract that is above our current salary limit? According to rumour that applies even if the offer was below his present wage. Would it be reasonable to expect a young(ish) player to accept a new contract that paid far less than he would be offered elsewhere?

BTW, the club didn't "stick with him" while he ws injured, it was contractually obliged to retain his services. The club, at least HR, didn't speak to him after his loan & injury. That to me is not giving a damn!

I've said before that this is the hardest decision Rangers face this year & may influence Ned's position. I don't envy Hoos & Ferdinand!

This for me. He has had a good season in a poor defence. What is his real strength? He's not great in the air, not very quick, just steady and does the basics well. Not worth 20K a week. I noticed no talk of " I"d really like to stay and help the club going forward" . Typical modern footballer.

I think I recall that he did loads during the aftermath of Grenfell, pretty much entirely off his own bat and donated large sums of cash towards the cause. In a time of obscene salaries and some quite staggeringly wealthy and shallow players he has come across as a decent person and player. Would love it if he stayed, but he won’t be short of attractive options oh he chooses to move on. Unlike Caulker I genuinely would wish him the best of things without ill will.

Never knowingly understood

We're over complicating things.

He either signs within our wage structure, or he goes. Same with Ned.

It's as simple as that. His agent won't be approaching this with sentiment, neither should we.

I'd like us to re-sign both, but only within our wage structure. Ball is firmly in their court. Any decision is on their head.

I think he should offer to stay for the next 8 years on minimum wage, knit next season's kit, teach Connor from the box office to sing in order to woo Mavis from the canteen, capture the Pokemon that took a dump in the stand and fix the Ellerslie Road water pressure. But only if he he wants to.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

Take your point, problem for me is I come from an era where players showed loyalty, that's a thing of the past it's now down to what club can offer the biggest contract, those beloved agents playing one club off against another until they get a deal, the agent half the time only interested in the commission and not the players future career.

No he doesn't owe us anything because HR treated him like crap to start with and after his loan spell he got injured where given the chance he would have much preferred to be playing football. Players are contracted to the club and nobody expects them to be ditched if they get injured, it's not contractually possible but I get your point, we can't blame the player for the injury situation. The last few years have stretched the patience of many of the fans, having so many end of career / wasters on the books has meant people have wanted to see them leave, the likes of Assou Ekoto, Bosingwa and Caulker are the first three that spring to mind.
That said because Robinson was out injured for so long I was hoping he would give us two years before he moves on, considering his age and the fact he's still developing as a player then a short contract with us where he gets first team football didn't seem a bad move. A bit frustrating because this year we have finally seen the type of football he can play and there's plenty of development to come, he has managed to fill the gaping hole left by Hall when we have had our injury crisis.

Bottom line I agree with Hunter if Lee and Les can't agree a new contract within our current wage structure then he has to go, we are finally building a team of players who will give 100% not unlike Ollies last bunch with Rowlands and Ainsworth etc. It's tough for a club now to build a team that can compete in the Championship when you are outbid for your best players and others possibly sold for transfer fees, we are going to need that scouting network more than ever.
Anyway here's to hoping for us sneaking a point today, we have a history of upsetting the form book, I will be a happy bunny when we reach 50 points which should be enough this year, the summer will see a lot more rebuilding hopefully in the Championship, FFP allowing......
