As well as the man in the street getting massively ripped off on planet football we now get told that the USPGA golfing major will ONLY be shown on Eleven Sports which is a streaming only media.
Yes they are streaming it for free to "entice" us in but as they are also dipping their toes into football is yet another variant in how we watch sport using our hard earned cash.
Boxing - when the fu(k did Sky deem that Whyte Vs Parker was so big a draw that they put it on PPV. Id have been hard pushed to watch it on Sky Sports 1 but PPV..........fu(k me the standard of PPV is dropping. Joshua for a unification bout I get (but wouldnt pay for) but what is this fight all about? The Hearn's are laughing all the way to the bank. Is anyone actually going to pay for this fight........... with Chisora as the main undercard????
Step up Amazon and google to really fu(k up the rest of the market.

Been saying for a while, we're about to enter a golden age for women's sports. As the men's games get greedy and chase the dollar forgetting that free to air coverage (outside of football) massively helps the profile of the game (rugby is doomed if we ever lose the 6N FTA) - women's sports will be cheap, and available, fill the increasinly large scheduling stations have and feel like a good thing to raise the profile of, and will lead to much greater interest, support and ergo money for women's sports.

If customer choice is such a concern why can't we cherry pick the channels we want and pay just for those? I hate all this S, M, L, XL, Movies, Sports, Kids etc packages you have to buy into which you end up with a load of stuff you don't want just to get the few that you do.
Might have been the case 20-30 years ago but I'm sure with today's technology there's no reason why you cannot individually tailor the channels you wish to have.

I signed up to BT TV mainly as I wanted to watch Parma back in Serie A.. Two days later the rights to Serie A and La Liga have gone to Eleven Sports (who ever they are ) Still £4 pm for 18months is ok with me. Sky Sports is having to suffer reduced coverage of major events, can pretend but really isn't bothered with the less high-profile stuff, continuing to raise prices and generally becoming far less attractive.
I currently have a good value (I think) Sky TV package and efficient Broadband etc. But the Sports subscription is coming ever closer to being binned. And I don't think Sky will be changing anytime soon to stop that happening. | | | |

No one has a gun to your head. There is obviously a market so companies are selling. Plenty of pubs and Rileys now show the boxing so you can invest the £20 (on 3 1/2 pints!)down there if you can make it.
Some cheeky buggers will stream it on YouTube for nish and most people, including I, have streamed some sporting event illegally.
I agree with the tailored channel option rather prescriptive packages. I've got Virgin Media (which just lost a host of TV channels from UKTV) but spend most of my time on Netflix watching films, stand up and Only Fools. Total cost £35 but no sport.
It's a bit of an entitled argument this!

Last week you had usyk /gassiev itv ppv and 100% fair enough - two best cruiser weights in the world and a clinic by potentially the greatest cruiser weight in history.
Not this time. Parker last three performances have been dull as ditchwater. He was in one of the worst title fights on record against Fury, put in a pretty stale performance against Joshua and prior to those two looked dog-shit against an old sparring partner well on his way to journeyman status.
Never a ppv headliner fight so the undercard must be awesome right?
Well far from it, to be fair Hearne has been unlucky with fighters pulling out late en masse and another guy getting refused a visa last minute but - for ppv- what is left is a joke.
Still it’s boxing and who knows, maybe Chisora has yet another fresh start in him, Dave Allen proves one and for all you dont’t need to train to win and Connor Benn doesn’t make the adjustments and it’s another cracker.
Anyway I’ll stop moaning - nobody makes anyone buy ppv, but this one on paper is terrible. [Post edited 26 Jul 2018 9:18]
