I am struggling to understand the mentality of some of our fans last night. I am going to put the football to one side for a second because obviously it was unacceptable, but I am convinced that we have a group of supporters that genuinely want us to fail.

I was sat in Y/X block last night. Literally from the kick off some of the fans were on the players backs, the first time Washington received the ball a bloke stood up and hollered that he should 'fook off you fooking cant'. One of the first songs that was sung from that area was 'we're f...... sh.t'. Promptly followed up with 'how sh.t must you be, we're drawing 0-0'. Why?! It's a total embarrassment.

I get the frustration, I don't think we should sit there and clap happily along as we get battered again, but please someone tell me how any of that helps?

Was it just where I was sat? I hope so!

Actually thought the fans were fairly supportive last night until the first goal went in. Both ends of elllerslie road doing a decent amount of chanting

It was also encouraging that around 2 - 2.5k fans stayed behind after the whistle to applaud the players off the pitch and I think the players appreciated it as they must now how bad the feeling was last night and all stayed a while to applaud back.

The grass is always greener.

I have to say I have never understood the benefit of the "how sh1t must you be we are winning away" or other such songs.

You surprise me....away from the ground for a moment.
Last season......I saw many fans on here and other message boards....wanting Ollie to move on. Please don't get me started on how many fans were crying out..one mistake Ned...Our fans at the moment seem to be more fickle than even the first Arsenal fan.

The only thing that fans seems to unite on..is that SM wasn't the best person for this job.

He has had a whole pre season to assess the squad, only to realise 3 games in, that we need a few "experienced " heads to help the youngsters.

We have some really talented young players, but the likes of Cousins and Luongo also have fans opinions split...It doesn't help the fans, when the manager sends out the one youngster the fans believe to be the best of the midfield bunch....who promptly gets MOM on his first outing.

Where I was it was mostly supportive other than a few moaners.
I think most of us are already resigned to relegation, so why bother getting angry?

Bare bones.

I’m certainly not going to be booing or yelling at the players I hope this stops as it doesn’t help anyone. However frustrated I am at the board, I honestly don’t hold the players responsiblle.

I never think it helps and I never join in but I guess football is an emotional game and fans sometimes need to vent their anger.
I am in R Block and there was definitely a group at the back wanting to get their message across.
'We want our Rangers back'
As my mate in front said - which version?

You'll always get people on the player's backs (I went to Spurs 2 seasons ago with a mate who has a ST there and some lady slagged Eriksen the whole game, like WTF he's sick), and I never usually miss an opportunity to be disappointed by our fans, but as a whole I was dreading us conceding because it would get nasty, but even at 2-0 people stayed behind the team and tolerated quite a lot imo

In MU the apathy was so palpable I nearly gave it a hug when Connor and Eze nearly combined to nearly score.

We stayed on to the end and didn't boo but I have to admit I was slightly mystified when the players got a round of applause. What exactly were we applauding?

I hope it wasn't sympathy for them not being good enough, I can't imagine professional footballers would want that.

The fans went through the motions because the players went through the motions.

I think there is a generally lack of acceptance that the club is in real trouble and is having to cope with that. This is the weakest squad we have had in years. Not strictly talent wise, but in lack of experience at this level. No money to buy player and very difficult convincing players to come here on loan to a poor team and less money than elsewhere. Problem is that the players and manager cop the blame.

I think there is a lot of angst and disillusionment behind the scenes. Players see players leaving, they know what state the club is in, they see no players coming in and the pressure on them intensifies. A new manager comes in with different ideas and the players seem to not be mentally in the right place to go out and play that way.

I think a lot of things have caught up with the players and that is what we are seeing. Washington has no confidence and hasn't had any for ages. Cousins was injured and just doesn't seem to be able to really get involved and Ingram has been thrust in as first team keeper when his ability at this level is questionable. And yet we have to somehow rely on these players. It's not easy. Players also take on what fans and press say and you can sink very quickly, as we are right now.

Fans are generally living off where we were since Warnock came in and we are now a million miles from even that team. Our time in the light has been brief and I think it will be bleak for a while because we f*cked up financially and our current situation is exactly what the FA wanted. They wanted to make an example of us as a warning to others and that's how it is panning out.

The atmosphere is toxic because of all these things but it is mainly because many fans seem to feel we should be performing as we did when we got promoted. That is a world away from where we are and fans have to accept it will be this way until somehow it turns around.

Never knowingly right.

I applauded those going through the motions of clapping the fans at the end and thought about why. I guess, I imagine if I was a player in training today, the image of some supporters clapping me in spite of another loss might make me feel like trying a bit harder for their sake. Leaving the field to empty seats or abuse wouldn't motivate me at all. Before anyone says it, I know they are ridiculously overpaid for doing a job millions dream of (well, not playing for us, but you know what I mean!).

It's the modern social media driven world we live in.

This country also, has always built people up and then bought them down in double quick time.

As supporters, we should do our best to support.

But this club has been a walking cluster fu*k for about eight years now, so, it can be a trial to do so.

Completely agree the toxic atmosphere is unanimously unhelpful for the crisis we find ourselves in. As you say, as a fan you shouldn't be expected to be a happy clapper when you're about to lose you're 4th successive league game, but how in hell does booing of the players and chants digging McClaren out help the situation 4 games into the season?

I'll tell you who it helps, it helps the opposition team not QPR. Fans need to show a bit of maturity and thick skin, and be appreciative of the crisis we're in at the moment. Yes its shet, yes its demoralising, yes its depressing, but booing does nothing to solve it.

Really - many are same players as last season, same board, playing a lot worse.

Players have to take some blame surely.

Not sure having a different bunch of people sitting in the posh seats makes CW a goalscorer or Ingram a better keeper.

It's starkly clear that heads have gone. The first two games weren't good, but single goal defeats always leave you with hope for improvement. The WBA game has destroyed any belief the team had in itself and that's a bigger problem than the relative ability of the players, especially if they've also lost any belief in the manager.
