I did a 2 hours 41 mins a few years ago on the totally flat course in Amsterdam. I was pleased with the time.

But 2 hours 1 minute is absolutely amazing! How does a peep run so fast????

I ran Berlin in 2008 with a lot of chums, seven of us were in Rs shirts. At the two hour, one minute stage...there was plenty of running left in the day!

Berlin is as flat as a tortilla l,which is why the record tumbles there. That said, to run two hours, 41 minutes anywhere on the planet, is immense!

the sub 2 hour marathon is close, I reckon someone will do it within the next 5 years, although it may still require in-out pacers to do it the first time.

2 hours 41 is a mighty quick time too Japan - you should be proud of that!

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it

As someone who's never ran a marathon (though I've inadvertently run a few halves) I converted Kipchoge's run into 5k park runs. He runs 8 of them them at under 15 minutes and then sprints the last 2.2k in 06:07. Incredible.

14.24/ 14.37/ 14.36/ 14.19
14.28/ 14.21/ 14.16/ 14.31

To put it in perspective, I did the Ride London event in 2005. I did 52 miles in 4 hours 2 minutes.I felt really good in myself but then this bloke ran at the same speed?? Mind you, the hills at mile 39 in Richmond Park and Richmond Hill were killers.
