The same argument to a lesser extent can be made for general elections. Of course there is a repeat vote within 5 years but a lot of damage could be made. Should everybody over the age of 80 lose the right to vote after all statistics dictate they might be dead within 5 years. Back to referenda which are usually one off (except of course if we get the wrong result) so again why not an upper age limit to voting maybe lower than 80. If 16 year olds demand a say in their future what about 14 years olds | | | |

I've noticed that during the considerable duration of this thread, whenever Vince Cable's name is mentioned it is to hoots of derision. I'm not a LibDem, but why does this bloke elicit such reductive comment?
The villains of this piece are first and foremost, Cameron, then all the Leave politicians like Gove, Cash and Johnson. May, has tried to retrieve something from this mess but is ridiculed. Corbyn is hopeless, Farage, the supplier of bullets without firing the gun.
For the short and long term prospects of this benighted country, we need to stop this nonsense and either Remain or instigate a soft Brexit. All this talk of riots in the street needs to be faced down. We have reached a watershed. The next few weeks will define the future for us and our descendents. We cannot turn our backs on 45 years of cohesion. |  | | |
