There is no such thing as a managed no-deal. Article 50, para 3 states that, on the day a country leaves, all treaties (i.e. UK-EU) shall cease to apply. For UK companies that export £220 bn to the EU, everything changes. Immediately.
Even if the UK was more prepared than it seems to be, just think about the implications. There will be no legal basis for any cross border trade.

I have been perfectly clear (as the Maybot often says). My comments referred solely to trade between the UK and the EU. Just a mere 44% of our exports.
The EU has proposed some rule changes. To protect the interest of the EU27 members and for a very time limited period.
Trading under WTO rules means that we will have tariffs imposed on our exports (up to 45% on beef and lamb); and we will need to collect tariffs, including where goods cross from the EU (e.g. Ireland) into the UK. Exports of agri-food products will need to undergo 100% SPS checks at recognised Border Inspection Posts (BIPs). The only 2 with any capacity, on mainland Europe, are Zeebrugge and Rotterdam. Generally tariffs are low across the world. It is the non-tariff barriers that will cause the problems. No it won't kill all trade between the UK and EU but, for farmers in particular, it will seriously damage it. Manufacturing industry with 10% tariffs and a loss of frictionless trade affecting JIT supply chains is also likely to suffer. Half the UK car industry will be on shutdown in April.
