In the end pretty comfortable. We looked pretty controlled throughout and Pompey looked utterly knackered by the end of it. Lovely to see Mass back and working his socks off. Matt Smith - take a bow...he's limited but he's got a lot of heart and that counts for much. Bidwell, Scowen also good as were Hall and Lynch (Lynch especially in 2nd half).

On we go.

Nice to hear - there are some maligned names in your report. Glad to hear they did well.

Agree with all that.
Eze looked very relaxed and in control when he came on. Made a difference I thought.
We still miss Cameron IMHO.

Luongo was outstanding tonight. Big performance from Smith as well at both ends of the pitch.

Apart from Lumley’s momentary wobble in making a clearance in the first half, i thought they all, to a man battled hard, but my MOTM was Mass. Boy have we missed him. Always showing for the ball, making key tackles and effectively linking defence and attack - something we haven’t been doing nearly as well recently.

I’d keep the same team for Saturday we looked a threat all game especially with smith in the side I’d give the smith and Wells duo a go for the next 5 games as they could form a good partnership, luango was mom closely followed by feeeman , all in allot was a good night I was fearing the worst but Mclaren got it spot on today

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

I was falling asleep first half, both teams afraid to blink apart from the crossbar.
Much better after Freeman got going after about 60.

I thought Matt Smith was great last night, everyone put in a shift although as BC said we looked pretty controlled.

More to the point though I've broken my FA cup hoodoo.

I thought the most improved player was Scowen. McLaren had made a few frustrated comments about needing to 'work even harder' after the WIgan performance and I thought Scowen really showed that. Plus his passing was more precise and pragmatic.

Freeman looked to me like he was given a bit of a gee-up at half time and seemed to be looking to impose himself a bit more - I thought he'd gone a bit quiet in the 20-odd minutes before that.

Overall I thought we did well though you could see that a win was needed to build confidence - when we get the ball back we often seem to take a while to move forward as a team from deep. I know it's about keeping shape and knowing where each other is but there's shirley room for a bit more energy and determination at those moments?

Was very happy with last night.

A workmate who used to play with Scowen at schoolboy level came along for his first QPR game and thought Luongo was the best player on the pitch - as someone pointed out above, we've really missed him!

Agreed with me that Lynch always looks a second away from doing something stupid, but he did improve second half.

Personally - and I might have missed something - I though Grant Hall didn't put a foot wrong. Hopefully he gets some more game time in the league between now and the end of the season.

Best I've seen of Matt Smith since last season, without a doubt
