Proper solid team coming to play on Friday.

Not sure we have the staff to match them.

So is it Gung-Ho or The Bus?

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!

Gung ho
After the late injustices of the last 2 games there will be no lack of fight and determination both on the pitch and in the stands.
I'd rather go out fighting than any other way.

How have tickets gone for this game?

Got to be close to a full house surely.

I hear Watford have sold out (not sure just top or both).

Up to us to make some noise!

Or play like we did first half and we'll all be home by 8-30

You're right, we've got to go for it. My fear is that we're going to get turned over so we need to at least have had a go.

I can deal with losing if we've tried, I just don't want to wake up on Saturday morning knowing that we didn't even put up a fight...

If we go gung ho we'll get ripped apart, only chance we have is to be very solid and hard to break down and try and make the most of set pieces and the counter attack

Be interesting to see what team Watford put out.

Comfortably ensconced in the Prem top half, loads of the so called bigger clubs already out, making them one of the highest ranked teams left in - logic dictates they play the strongest available team...but so many managers seem obsessed with rotating for the cups even when the draw opens up and gives them agreat chance of having a serious run that is both exciting & money-spinning.

Hoping it's Gomes not Foster....

When was the last time we beat a team from a higher division in the FA cup?

Have to agree. I think we should express our gung ho-ness through work rate, organisation, shape etc.

Respond to the pressure, frustrate them and take our chances when they come - is what I'm hoping for at least.

Yes, I'd too find it odd if Watford didn't go for it. Great chance to progress for either team.

It was like Belgium in the World Cup. All they had to do as not score in the final group game with England and they'd have the easier route and more than likely a place in the Final.

Winning the game game was the morale high ground but I believe you have to be tactical/calculated too if you want to improve your chances of winning the bloody thing.

Its not Highbury 82 is it? Surely not? I can't think

I would go back to the 4-2-3-1. It's our most secure formation, it protects the defence, it's the one we're most comfortable in. Play Wells in he middle of the three off Smith if you can't leave Smith out (which you can't really). Freeman one side, Pav the other and whichever one of Scowen, Cousins or Manning you think won't fck up too much with Luongo.

"Josh, you didn't fck up too much last season, but this season has seen a disappointing number of fck ups given your previous high standards. Ryan, not too many fck ups at Rotherham mate, fair play, and not fcking up too much in training since you got back...but this is Watford son, one fck up like your mental red card last season and it could be game over. Jordan, we all know your potential to fck up, but given your current standing on the FckUpometer, you're in".

With them potentially being able to field Ducuorre, Will Hughes, Cleverley and Capoue we are going to have to have a busy midfield to deal with that lot!

On the ticket side about 30 left now, should be sold out by cop today I reckon

Perhaps Hall? If Lynch & BFG are the centre halves

They didn't beat Burnley (0-0) at Watford
They didn't beat Bournemouth (3-3) at Bournemouth
They didn't beat Newcastle (0-0) at Watford
They lost at Newcastle (0-1)
They lost at home to Bournemouth (0-4)
They didn't beat Fulham (1-1) at Fulham

Somehow, amongst that lot, there's a tiny little bit of hope.

I don't think that extra time/penalties is a runner given that we played yesterday, so let's have a go at them but maybe not Bournemouth style and see what happens.

Lumley
Furlong BFG Hall Bidwell
Wszolek Cousins Luongo Freeman
Wells Smith

They made loads of changes for previous cup games, but haven't played since the weekend and have no midweek game next week. So it'll be a strong side against a physically and mentally drained side who has two really tough games following quite quickly.
It don't look good.
But you never know!

Bare bones.

Completely agree. We do alright when we let the opposition have more of the ball.....and we’ll have little choice here. Defend in numbers and get in their faces.....then maybe on the break or set piece.

Exactly. You simply have to play Smith against a Prem side. He’s a weapon they won’t have had to defend against much, and, as Dave says, set pieces will be crucial for us.

As a result, Wells simply has to play a bit deeper and closer to the midfield, offering an option in to feet or down the channel.

Pav and Freeman are our most competent, experienced, and hardest working wingers (who know their defensive position the best), so they play wide. They’re also good crossers of the ball and have Thunderbosh Smith to aim at.

In central midfield, it’s Luongo and....???? Take your pick. I’d probably go Scowen at a push. But Cousins probably deserves it on recent appearances.

Back 4 of Bidwell Hall Leistner and Furlong.

Lumley in goal.

I’d tell Freeman and Pavel to tuck and work hard when they have it, and get really wide when we get it.

Wells is crucial. He needs to work hard. Luongo to press and get into them, Scowen/Cousins to barely venture more than 5 yards from in front of the centre halves...ever! We need that protection. Geoff would have been perfect.

Watford’s 2nd string is still comfortably Prem quality. They eased to victory away at Newcastle in the last round. But, their centre halves are small so a big man is key. You’d assume Deeney plays so you need to let Toni get stuck into him.
