bob hazell put in one of the cup's greatest performances, he completely marked cyrille regis out of the game, he seemed relaxed and in control but later said he was vomiting thru nerves! regis was a powerful and quick player with a thunderbolt of a shot but our bobby stood out, outside qpr it hardly got a mention, one of the finest motm I can remember by a qpr player. and clive allen's "fluke" goal was in fact a wonder goal, he reacted to the clearance and sent 20,000 r's into the stratosphere....and we nearly missed spurs in the final ( did they score late v wolves or Leicester?) . loved you bobby!

It's often overlooked (not by us) just what a superlative performance that was by Bob Hazell. I went to the semi-final and all that morning before the game I was dreading what Cyrille Regis might do to us given that he was absolutely red hot at that point in time (should have gone to the World Cup later that year but that's another story). He was probably the closest equivalent of Harry Kane today but he hardly had a kick.

Followed that up in the two final games with Archibald and Crooks, a pretty handy strike partnership, both failing to get on the score sheet over 210 minutes.

The first time I can ever recall willing the referee to blow the final whistle.
I'm sure that I endured the longest 18 minutes of my life that day.

Great trip down memory lane shame we did not win the Final I think Spurs got most of the critical calls which never helps.
That was a great team and so was the 86 one which also made it to Wembley but fell on our face (sad I was there )
Which team was better 82 or 86
