What is the right plan when you go up then? Cardiff spent very little and might stay up, Huddersfield spent about 50 million last year and stayed up but going down this year. Watford changing the entire team and manager when they went up and have never been in any trouble. Bournemouth spent big on young English players and have done well. Well, there may not be a hard and fast rule, agreed, but there definitely is a right and wrong way to do it as you have clearly demonstrated with your examples.
I still very clearly remember Jim White saying what a wonderful transfer window Fulham had just had after spending £100m in the Summer. I guess the right or wrong way would depend on the playing staff you have and what you get for your money when buying to supplement or replace them. |  | | |

I remember Palace fans giving it large about our spending then their own club goes and spends £14m each on Luka Milivojevic and Andros Townsend, £25m on Mamadou Sakho and £28m on Christian Benteke, who is really good at missing penalties. |  | | |

But clubs have followed the same model as ours of throwing money at it and stayed up. Palace, Watford, Bournemouth and Wolves all done the same thing but it worked for them. They just did it better than us
Our crime both times was to not scout players characters just assuming they wouldn't just throw in the towel when things went wrong and big problem was a complete lack of infrastructure at the club so we needed a new squad every transfer window as there was nothing coming through below the first team | | | |

Just checked, in my lifetime (52 years) Leeds have been in the top flight for a grand total of 6 seasons more than us, yet they assume they are massive compared to us, wonder how big they would be if they had two other professional teams on their doorstep and several more less than 8 miles away. |  |
