A good idea, or just softening us up for when they sell the naming rights?

I did read that the offices and changing rooms were in the Ellerslie Road many moons ago.

To be honest, I thought it was still officially Rangers Stadium, just known universally as Loftus Road.

Sounds like a nice gesture and possibly a little help for a good cause. I'm happy with that.

When I started supporting, the registered office was indeed Ellerslie Road. I can never remember anything being in Loftus Road apart from the entrance.

I have a printed sheet of autographs (and the stamped addressed envelope I supplied) which has the address as Ellerslie Rd.
I would guess that the original offices address (which is now South Africa Rd) might have been in Loftus Rd.

I would hope the new stadium, should I still be around to see it, would incorporate 'Loftus' in the title. It's only a name now but an important one to retain it.

I mean, let's face it, we've never played in Queen's Park but who would dare suggest changing that!

Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean we're not all against you.

I'm not saying anyone *should* be upset necessarily, just that I'm surprised people aren't. This kind of stuff is important to a club's identity, and we all get very upset when the owners start messing with the badge, if the hoops aren't the correct width, if the blue isn't the correct blue etc. And I guess the suggestion that they are presenting this as a charitable act but secretly hoping it will play well with their plans for a new stadium etc., and also that in 12 months it will the Air Asia Stadium or whatever... I don't know, I'm surprised at the lack of pitch forks.

Like others have said, everyone will still call it Loftus Road so maybe it doesn't matter.

IMO if it does good it does good. Whether there may be collateral benefits to that good down the line doesn't turn the whole thing into some invalidating insincere cynical ulterior ploy.

What if you take the stadium machinations out of it and have a generation of people who as a result think of QPR more positively, a local community club, everyone's favourite second team again the way we used to be, instead of those tinpot mugs who made fools of themselves spending all that money on rubbish. What if parents might even be happier to send their kids here, or young players elsewhere who feel it's a shirt that deserves their respect rather than just a temporary stop in their careers. Would that all make it a canny PR stunt too?

McIntyre is being particularly weird about this I see. In the space of 24 hours going from:

"Ryan Manning and Tomer Hemed were at PlayFootball in White City today and I'm told it was the 1,000th community appearance by #QPR players this season. Fair play."

to harrumphing this:

"And for this, #QPR - snookered by FFP - will not get a penny. [...] Stadium name should be sacred unless price is right. Not tossed away in a foolish attempt to sway a council unimpressed by emotional blackmail."

As if there's no contradiction.

Two separate issues and gives his reasoning for not agreeing with one. Nothing "particularly weird" about people having different opinions.

I guess I just don't see community work and giving massive exposure to a local charity as being unrelated.

'stadium name should be sacred unless price is right'

Er... ok dave. So getting rid of something sacred is ok as long as you've been given LOADSAMONEY (80s fans). But not if it's helping a local charity?

Yep, completely clear.

Bare bones.

Honestly, we aren't getting paid for the name now, and no-one is beating down the door to pay us for renaming it, so I think that if we can help someone, we should.

I was going to suggest the Dorse Industries Nymphomania Research Foundation but Les Ferdinand threatened to 'do a Blue Peter garden' on my ass. I didn't like to ask what that might be but it sounded serious.

I am really drunk. Look, I genuinely think it's a good idea. We're decent types aren't we? Let's help. Etihad? Emirates? Get to fcuk.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

I'm ok with this provided the club retains the right to change it again at short notice should it receive a significant offer or need to comply with FFP.

What about ''The QPR Community Trust Stadium' which could then support all the local Charities that make the short list plus those worthy Charities that don't.

QPR in the Community Trust is the jewel in our crown and it would be fantastic to see the Trust get wider recognition and support.

WLIO is a charity encouraging and helping West London kids from more modest backgrounds have access to the riverside rowing clubs of Putney, Hammersmith, and Chiswick. A fantastic local initiative and what better name than the WEST LONDON IS OARS Stadium.

We all call it Loftus Road even though the address is Rangers Stadium, South Africa Road.
So,
Loftus Road it is.

Strong and stable my arse.

In view of a charitable defending over the last seven years; our donating goals to the opposition; and gifting points to all without discrimination, surely if we kept the name ‘Loftus Road’ the altruistic effect would remain the same?

Failing that, I’d suggest, ‘The Samaritan Stadium’. It implies both a charitable nature toward strangers, while affording fans the opportunity to seek help against the effects of supporting the W12 shower.
