Hughton Gone on 09:52 - May 13 with 4155 views | Tonto | not sure that's a good idea. Who are they going to get in who is better? I also wouldn't have minded Houghton at QPR... could they not have sacked him a couple of weeks ago? (note: I do not for one moment think he would have come to us or that we could have afforded him before you jump on me)

Depends who they bring in. Remember people slaughtered Southampton when they sacked Nigel Adkins and replaced him with Pochettino
Hughton Gone on 10:12 - May 13 with 4021 views | Orthodox_Hoop | Harsh indeed, but nothing surprises me anymore. Didn't Jokanovic get sacked getting Watford promoted?
Hughton Gone on 10:14 - May 13 with 4003 views | ElHoop | They must be the worst team to have not been relegated from the PL for a long time. They've hardly won a game for months now. If they were going to sack him then at least they did it at the right time.

Curbs had taken Charlton as far as he could too. That they were architects of their own downfall hiring poorly subsequent to that doesn't change that. We moan about FFP suppressing competition and then when another club with ambition tries to take a next step it's all "who do they think they are". They're not Burnley or Cardiff, they have the means and set-up there to challenge top-half. You could also point to Southampton replacing Adkins for Pochettino, for instance. Anyway Brighton's form speaks for itself. That's not the sort of nosedive that magically evaporates over a summer.

Hughton Gone on 11:55 - May 13 with 3521 views | simmo | Harsh given his heroics in getting them up and keeping them there for sure, but the way they went about the last 6 months or so was terrible. Camped 10 men in their box for game after game and still lost nearly all of them. Probably more the manner of their performances and lack of ambition in games as much as final position. Good manager though and classy guy, will do well elsewhere for sure.

That's the way I'm seeing it as well. Harsh, but probably the right decision. Recruitment has been very poor recently as well IMO
Hughton Gone on 12:10 - May 13 with 3449 views | bosh67 | Idiotic decision. Simply needed money to freshen the squad up and rebuild again. Great manager. Craziness.

Possibly but hard to say when Hughton doesn't play them and sets up not to lose. The football stats community certainly thought they were great signings at the time. Ultimately though if the scouting and manager aren't on the same page then yeah it's bad recruitment. Perils of the DoF type model.
Hughton Gone on 12:40 - May 13 with 3282 views | Konk | I think it's impossible to judge fairly unless you regularly watch a side. One of my best mates is a lifelong season-ticket holder and reckoned that it was an absolute chore watching Albion most weeks in the PL, because Hughton primarily set them up not to lose rather than try to win games. Chatting a few weeks ago, he said him as his mates would rather the Albion go down, get someone like Jokanovic in, and at least be able to watch some entertaining football. He's got a lot of time for Hughton and appreciates he did a great job getting them up, he just didn't want another year of boring, defensive football. Pretty sure that's what Norwich fans said too. When Curbishley was sacked, Charlton were playing some real turgid stuff and Curbishley had clearly run out of ideas. I think most Charlton regulars thought it was a good decision, but that obviously depends upon the board appointing a decent replacement. Same at Ipswich with McCarthy getting the boot - people saying that Ipswich should have stuck with him - the two season-ticket holders I know still maintain it was the right decision as the football was dreadful and the relationship was toxic with a lot of their support. It's just the Hurst appointment and total overhaul of the squad hasn't worked out.
| Fulham FC: It's the taking part that counts |

I couldn't agree more Mate of mine is a Brighton fan. He goes on and on about what a big club they are.....
Hughton Gone on 13:18 - May 13 with 3083 views | paulparker | Hands down they are the most uninspiring team in that league , it’s like watching paint dry No one seriously thought they would put up much of a fight yesterday , apart from Huddersfield city couldn’t of had an easier game to play , I’m only surprised Brighton got above the half way line let alone score
| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Yes, but that is an extreme example, don't seem to be too many Pochettinos around. Brighton might do better than Chris Hughton, but they could certainly do worse.
