Not a party political thing or a reason for an LFW punch-up, but I keep having the eerie feeling that eventually every single Tory MP will put themselves forward leaving Teresa May with the casting vote. At which point, she cackles maniacally and slowly points at Jacob Rees Mogg sitting at the back, with the entire parliamentary party turning to stare at him... He is seen to gulp and mutter 'Oh, copulate my happenstance'
'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

Judging by the level of this Boris hate campaign I can only assume Remainers are shÃtting their pants at the thought of him becoming PM.
Bottom line, as long as this abdication of democracy carries on with the Left, Liberals and soft left Tories defying the public vote, then Brexit will continue to over ride all aspects of a functioning Parliament.
The outcome has to honour democracy and that means out. It is the complete lack of integrity on the Remain side, their weasel reinvention of what is and isn't democracy that will condemn this nation.
Hate campaign? Do give over, Steve. Still just the one dead MP in the last three years, and it wasn't Boris Johnson.
Get back to me when him and Joanna Lumley have spaffed £53m of *your* money on a giant floating garden centre.

Tbf, you are describing pretty much every politician.
Raab I'll have you know is quite a good MP and does help out us locals on a fair few issues. He didn't make an appearence at the annual Molesey Carnival last Saturday though which was dissapointing. I would have liked to have discussed a few things with him over one of the 1st Molesey Sea Scouts Hotdogs and a round of Tombola. Massive Tory safe seat here though so he can pretty much do what the f*ck he likes and he'll keep getting the vote.
The Labour candidate I voted for in 2017 is quite pretty but her campaign was as dull as dishwater the morning after last nights curry stained crockery has been on an overnight soak.
Raab for PM! For no other reason than that I got him at 14/1 at Betfair.

A fantastic insight into the man. Now I have no fear the country will be in safe hands. If you can get the audio book. Joe Pasquale delivers just the right amount of pathos.

Putting Johnson in charge is like when Shearer got the Newcastle job. Completely out of his depth, not up to it, an inevitable disaster, but you've kind of got to let it happen just to get it out of the way because nobody else will get a fair crack at the job until he has had it and fcked it up.
Good to see your ability to succinctly hit the nail on the head extends to Tory politics as well as QPR, Clive.

The Tories are weird and i wouldn't be shocked if they ended up throwing Stewart to the lions in a shootout with Boris. There's got to be some sort of a twist there somewhere.

Good news everyone! They are going to have a televised debate! Sadly, I think I might miss it as Antiques Roadshow is having a Prince Albert special that night.
'So Fiona, this bolt would enter ... urgh.... here, and exit .... argh.... here'. 'I see, and how much would you say it is worth?' 'I'd say it would be worth at least four trips to A & E'.
'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

But if he doesn't get it then he'll just be scheming and backstabbing whoever does, again. And the sort of meatheads who think a funny appearance on HIGNFY outweighs a long CV of lying, deceit, racism and incompetence when it comes to picking a prime minister will still always say it would be better with him, should be given a chance, "says it like it is" and so on. It's a fcking disaster anyway, may as well let the overgrown man child come in and fck it up a bit more so he can get on with fcking the fck off afterwards.
It's almost as it somebody somewhere is trying to discredit the whole democratic process...
Surely judging Boris's character and competence isn't a left / right wing issue, but more of a moral one... i.e. anyone with decent morals can't really support him.
Anyone here with decent morals prepared to back Boris as being best for our country?
Oh, Boris, remember the old adage: Loose lips sink ships! Get in that lifeboat, quick.
"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

It may have been mentioned on here before but I don't think Boris will get the crown. Here's my theory: Boris is a marmite man and those who love him have cast their votes. As the field whittles down, those who don't (and there are plenty) will get behind the man who becomes his rival (probably Raab or Hunt). I also think that there may be some Boris voters who change their mind in time as it becomes apparent he is a liability.
The Tories are screwed in any event: either they (a) delay Brexit again and reap the backlash of the hardline Leavers, or (b) go the No Deal route and probably subject the economy to a very bumpy ride for 12-24 months (just in time for a General Election).
"Thank you for supporting Queens Park Rangers Steep Staircase"... and I thought I'd signed up for a rollercoaster.

He'll surely win from here - I'm amazed that he has got so many MPs onside, but he's certain to get most of the Raab votes as well, so he'll make the final two no question. Then it's down to the members. I would imagine that they fancy him in an election campaign and that's what I'd expect him to do when he can't get anywhere before 31 October. The election route is hardly an easy one, but it's more or less the only available option for the Tories, so I guess that's the logic in making him leader.
