Come on there have been many Og's by male footballers equal or worse. I remember our own Gerry Francis scoring one similar at the loft end in the '70s and he was the England Captain. |  |

My eldest son used to play in the same team as Scott Donnelly's sister Stacey. Around our way back then, the girls had to move on to single sex football at around the age of thirteen. Prior to that she was the best player by a mile in a very strong side and went on to represent The Republic of Ireland. It's doubtful whether she could have competed physically much longer, but she was undoubtedly good enough to play alongside male players older than 13. [Post edited 20 Jun 2019 9:12]

As far as I know, there isn't any specific gender-related ruling on management / coaching within men's football, so there must be another reason. The only one I could think of was simply a circular argument based on experience (i.e. you can't coach men's teams until you can prove you can be successful coaching men's teams). |  |

I can't think of a ton of sports that have actually broken down this barrier. Basketball is maybe the closest, there are a couple of female assistant coaches in the NBA at the moment and at least one of them has had interviews for a head coach position. |  | | |

Women and girls are allowed to play mixed football until the age of 18.But normally only the better players go to mixed football teams.
A lot of the girls playing in those leagues tend to give it up at U16 level because of the more physical nature of the football playing with young men.
It does tend to make them better and more aggressive players than girls who have played in girls teams while they were developing.
That’s my experience in the Suffolk leagues,but I can’t speak for the rest of the country.
The standard of the women’s World Cup is acceptable in my view,but you can’t compare it to the men’s game.
Would you stop watching qpr because the standard dropped below what it used to be?It is what it is.But it’s more enjoyable to watch than some men’s games I’ve watched lately. |

Even if that refs whistle cost us numerous points like last season?I would much prefer it to be used to overturn some terrible decisions given rather than spotting something not spotted by the officials.
As long as it helps to achieve consistent fairness to all teams I’m happy with it. |

Agreed. It’s not perfect. But if it ensures the majority of decisions are correct, or at least eradicates the embarrassingly incompetent ones that make supporters feel cheated, it’s got to be an improvement. I think we had a bigger points deduction than Birmingham last season. | |

Another referee with the advantage of being able to replay incidents, several times, from different angles.
I get the argument about delays and momentum, but can’t see how it doesn’t rectify more mistakes than not. | |

VAR means absolutely minuscule infringements that no one in the ground could see or care about that now results in penalties and disallowed goals deciding games. May as well toss a coin.
The last World Cup and Champions League final have been ruined by these crappy decisions.
Get rid of VAR, I hate it.
It reminds me of watching rugby union where all the players fall on the floor and the referee awards a penalty seemingly at random for some invisible infringement, followed by some fat bloke hoofing it through the posts from miles away. | | | |
