Could we check if there's any abutting Brentford season ticket holders before jumping up and down?

Interesting to read there were only 8300 and something votes, not too many really considering. Of that, only 22% said they were QPR fans. So what is that, 1600 odd QPR fans voted?

Perhaps, but for what reason?

True, you can't believe as Gospel what you read in any survey, but it did specifically ask are you a QPR fan, so i'm not sure too many QPR fans would tick no to that question. Can't see much logic to do so? Maybe to suggest there are lots of neutrals keen on the idea, which would be a good reason, but presumably it'd be pretty much counteracted by the fact the another QPR vote shows the council we're still highly relevant. So, i'd predict it's fairly accurate. After all, they aren't targeting random citizens here, it's people going out of their way to send their answer those questions.

Even if it was 100% Rs, still not a flood of votes. Doesn't inspire confidence.

I don't think nearly 9k is that bad to be honest. Would be nice to get some positive news back from the council now.

Does anyone know how long this all would take? 5 years to completion?

to complete making a decision? Yes i would say 5 years is about right

I know that the board have said they want to own the stadium, although reported differently here, does anyone know what the the plan b is if, as I would think likely, we end up being forced into a lease situation.

What would/should happen to the money received for Loftus Road?
0
Stadium boost? on 08:42 - Jun 27 with 3034 viewssmegma

An overwhelming majority of 81% supported “major redevelopment” of the site in Wormwood Scrubs park. The council indicated this could mean a £400 million “mixed use” stadium with up to 45,000 seats, suitable for events including “concerts, trade shows, exhibitions,” as well as “capacity for football and other sports provision”.

Note how football is not the main use of any future stadium. IF we move there I personally think it would be a disaster. The logistics of getting to the place for starters would be a nightmare. I believe an athletics track would have to remain around the pitch. I went to a game there two years ago and as recently as May. The surrounding area would not be able to cope with the increased traffic in that locale, the parking is non existent and public transport negligible.

Transport would need improvement . Significant investment in east action station or a new station between white city and east acton at the hospital . Thus was muted many years back when I was at school in Ducane road.
Oh and of course a shuttle bus service to and from the crown and sceptre!!

Previously, I didn't have strong opinions either way about us playing our games in a revamped LCS but the results of the consultation make me think it's the wrong option for QPR.

We currently play in a purpose-built football stadium which - when we can be bothered to make some noise - creates an atmosphere which is second to none. If we end up in a huge stadium which is barely even half full most of the time, and one in which we are separated from the pitch by an athletics track, at best, it is going to take some getting used to and at worst, it is going to cause a storm of protest which will make the Karl Henry and WWORB (we want our Rangers back - a nice new acronym for you) ones seem like a tranquil afternoon tea party at the vicarage.

The players, on the other hand, might love the idea of being further away from the vitriol and might even lobby in favour of a dog track and a golf course forming additional buffer zones between the pitch and the fans...

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

think the plan is that the track will be adjacent to the stadium, not part of it. Bit like the cricket pitch that's next to the rugby pitch at, er, Headingley?

Bare bones.

Correct and important point Antti. The track will not be round the pitch but a separate entity adjacent. I believe they would rotate the current athletics track by 90 degrees in order to do this. Also I'm told there are underground tunnels that run the length of the Scrubs that were built during WWII to move the anti-aircraft guns around. Stick some moving walkways in them and you'd be at the ground from the new super Old Oak station in no time.

Ah OK, thanks, that is a relief! I still think the capacity is going to be a big issue, though, the atmosphere will make a bring and buy sale seem boisterous!

I’m sure it would be tiered accordingly.

We need to keep thinking a lot bigger than we actually are at present. Even a 30000 seater is yo yo territory these days, 45000 is the way to go.

My problem with all this would be who leads the development? If LBHF are going to own the ground and have final say on design then it's not really going to work. A large part of persuading fans to leave LR is the promise that they will look into a compact design to keep in atmosphere, LBHF won't care about that. If QPR get a long lease on the land for peppercorn rent and build the ground we all want I'm relatively happy with that but LBHF don't seem to like that even though they could get QPR to provide improved facilities for the local community as Ealing did with Warren Farm.

I am with you on 45000.

But everyone else on her makes excuses of "we cannot fill a 20K stadium". Not realising that Readings attendance increased when they got a new stadium and if we ever get big games or in the Prem again we would rake it as this would be in effect catapulting us into the top 10.
Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_football_stadiums_in_England

As it would be multi-purpose we would not lose money like other clubs when it is not in use. And we would stay in the borough.

We must think bigger (as long as we do it safely) than our current state. Have high dreams, but ones that are based on being affordable. This is the only way to grow and survive as a club. Otherwise, we shall drift away like Orient as other clubs do this.

Let's not become another team rattling around in a stadium that is too big for them. I think we would have trouble filling 25,000 never mind 30,000. 45,000 would be ridiculous.

We are currently at around 18,000. How often is it full? How many games in the top division days, were there empty seats? Even back in the 75-76 glory season, when prices were much cheaper, as were travel costs, and there were less choices for entertainment, we didn't always fill our 30 odd thousand stadium, I think we probably averaged around 24,000.

So where are those extra fans coming from. Yes you can do things with pricing and marketing and if we did go up, away fans and tourists numbers will increase, but above 30,000?

Try and design it so that it is fit for purpose but expandable in the future.

The sooner people realise we do not have a big enough fan base for a 45k stadium the better, I would say we have never had fewer fans than we do today. Very few people in the Shepherds Bush area support QPR now as alot of the fans have moved further out. Even those who were big fans have lost interest, we lose more fans per year than we gain without a doubt. Very few clubs in our league have a smaller fan base. With the tv coverage and exposure more and more children are supporting a top 6 side.

I wouldn't even say we struggle to fill 18k atm as we don't fill 18k at all, 14k is a realistic amount. Moving to a new stadium will be hard enough let alone going some where which will be less that half full each week, no atmosphere and embarrassing.

This all said we do need to move as we do need other ways of making money from the stadium

In the main I agree with you, but not that we have less supporters now than at anytime in our history.

Our crowds last season were on average, 1,000 higher than the crowds at LR for the TV second division championship of 1982-83 & in the top division the following year we had ten matches under that figure. The last season before The Premier started also had a lower averge than last year.

Compared to the '80's & '90's we are still well supported!

I saw us play premier league games in the early 90s where only about 11,000 turned up.
yes, 30,000 is too big for us if we're lower reaches championship. But you don't build a stadium for the bad times - you make sure it's big enough for the good times. some fans are just too precious and start crying if other fans sing 'your ground's too big for you'. poor loves.

Bare bones.

I remember we filled Wembley quite easily with 40K+ of our fans and no they were not hangers-on or drifters in.

Get a proper stadium and the numbers will grow over time. One needs to have the vision to dream!

Also, there will be walk-ins and some people like to just go to fancy stadiums. Of course, once you have them through the door, then we can possibly get them addicted!
