I was going to post this elsewhere, but just for you Boston!

This my "match report" that i e mailed to roller.

I've just eaten my tea & I'm sat down with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. New world of course!

Where do i start? I don't think we need revisit the Bowls Club, but we did have to purchase Football Matchday Membership for the season at the extortionate rate of £1.00. Each that is!

I think I will start with the negatives. All three that I can recall!

1) I felt we went flat after the substitutions & the one position you can't play Eze is as a lone striker. Thoiugh, I do understand replacing Hugill with Leistner. Stoke waere engergised by theirs.

2) Joe Lumley making a horrendous decision to come for a cross near the end of the match. Missing the cross could (and possibly should) have resulted in an equaliser.

3) Hearing somebiody just behind me stating that Eze is our worst player as he is lazy & useless. He did celebrate his goal though! He also continually moaned about Manning's positioning, which I felt was spot on!

Now to the good stuff!

We not only won, we deserved to win. We were by far the better footballing team & had a few moves of quality. The period between half time & the substitutions was wonderful to watch. The ball was played on the ground whenever possible & at that time Eze was untouchable. Bright was also bright! His game improved/changed after a hesitant start & his work for the opening goal was good.

Lumley had very little to bother him, but his confidence with his kicking has increased greatly. I was very impressed with this part of his game. Defensively, I thought we were improved without looking outstanding, but Hall & Manning were close to that description.Rangel was his usual mixture of good & bad moments, while I didn't notice Barbet that much. I take that as a good sign.

i did expect more from Amos than I saw today, but he wasn't found wanting & I probably expected too much too early! Cameron made one excellant needed foul that resulted in his caution, but he guarded our defence well. I also really liked his reaction in front of us at the end of the game. Don't celebrate against your old clubs? Geoffrey certainly did!

Josh Scowen? His running & workrate were amazing, but his miss was awful! That cost me my prediction of leading 2-0 at the interval! I wasn't expecting him to be in the side, but I'm reaaly pleased I got that wrong!

My man of the match was Jordan Hugill. He can play with his back to the goal & hold up the ball. He competes with defenders & wins his fair share of competitive headers. He niggles & makes runs off the ball. He reminded me of Helgusson & that is praise!

To summarise. We played some football, we worked hard (every player) & played as a team. Am I pleased I was there? You bet I am!

Rangers scoring first was key for me and Bright was outstanding against McLean constantly getting the better of him at left back. What Butland was doing for our first goal I'm not sure but Bright was always getting to the ball first and Hugill finished it off.

Lumley - look assured apart from the flap at the end when the ball sailed over his head and the whole away end had their hearts in their months went wide. Excellent distribution. Needs to get the ball out of his feet a bit quicker when receiving a pass back as was a bit close for comfort on a couple of occasions

Manning - Solid. Tidy. Stuck to his job well. Looked like a kid at Christmas (my teenage son's description) when the lino down the left finally gave us a throw

Barbet - lovely player. Great debut. Looked comfortable on the ball and was fist pumping the away end at the end.

Hall - looked back to near his best. Headed the ball all day long and put in a captain's shift.

Cameron - great job in front of the defence and broke up play and kept it simple with his passing. Earlyish yellow didn't seem to phase him. Loved his celebrations at the end.

Amos - so quick to press. Buzzed around midfield and is a quality addition to our squad. Subbed on 67 mins surprised to see him come off. Not sure if related to the knock at Oxford (missed Watford and can't remember if he played)

Scowen - did his job. Fairly quiet. One pass back to Lumley almost ended in disaster as it went to one of their players but Lumley saved his bacon by coming out rapidly to sweep it away with his feet. After his yellow I thought he was a red card waiting to happen but settled down. I thought Smith was going to come on for him later in the game.

Bright - Outstanding. MOM for many Rangers fans there I would imagine. Ran at McClean time and time again and had loads of space in that area to attack. Surprised Stoke didn't double up on him at times. Went off with cramp. Ran all day. Quality performance.

Eze - Joyous. What a goal. A thing of beauty. There seemed to be an air of country manure in the air (insert jokes about Stoke here) but this goal smelt and looked gorgeous. Only 21 years old, buzzed around working hard off the ball and his link up play was excellent and always looking for the ball. MOM for me alongside Hugill.

Hugill - Excellent debut. Held the ball up well Gallen esq and busted a gut to be up there to get the ball from Bright's cross. Composed player, physical and looking forward to seeing more from him.

We lost some momentum when the subs came on but fair play to Warburton for bringing Shodipo on to ping McClean back and Leistner was solid at the back when the Stoke onslaught came. Pugh made his debut and had a few touches and nice passes.

Overall a fully deserved 3 points and congratulations Mark Warburton and the team.

1,500 Rangers sung loud and proud throughout the game with 'We're Queens Park Rangers we're top of the league' thown in the mix after Eze's goal.

Happy Days
