Wombles v mk 23:30 - Aug 13 with 4852 viewsstowmarketrange

After the last meeting between the two teams in London a couple of years ago,the EFL charged Wimbledon for not putting mk’s name on the programme or scoreboard. They dropped the charges after mediation between the 2 clubs.
For tonight’s game Wimbledon chose not to issue a programme, and also the scoreboard was broken and didn’t work.A bit more mediation needed I think.
Shame franchise Utd won on penalties though.

Excellent!

Franchise are like one of those tapeworms that you hear about on QI, that feed off the hearts, brains and souls of worthwhile and beautiful creatures.

The very nature of their birth condemns and dooms them to a meaningless and joyless shell of an existence.

Most of the animosity might end if they dropped the dons from their name and just adopted mk city or similar.

They'll almost certainly get charged for not issuing a programme. League rule that every competitive match has to have one I believe.

There was a MK city, a team winkleman could have easily bought and guided them through the pyramid, instead he moved Wimbledon there and MK city went bust due to lack of interest. Still amazes me that you see blokes in their forties cheering on franchise as if they’ve supported them all their life.

AFC need to get Over it, they are just looking small time and petty, like an old ex girlfriend you bump into and she still won’t let go!

I don't think you'd be that blasé if Winkelman had bought QPR, as he very nearly did, relocated us to MK, changed our name, badge and colours and stole the honours and history as they did to Wimbledon FC.

The day the Football League & FA allowed that to happen was a fúcking shameful day in football's history.

Winkelman turned up at the Adelaide to do a pitch - I think the landlord at the time feared for his premises and demanded he leave within a few minutes of the meeting beginning.

AFC are absolutely right.

I always give a cheer when I hear MK have lost.

Never got the hatred for MK Dons

Wimbledon fans allowed their club to die and just abandoned it . They should of been on the pitch protesting every game

That’s kind of my recollection too. 2k crowds at selhurst park and losing money. Was either go to the wall or move to become sustainable elsewhere.

AFC are back at plough lane soon too, time for them to let go and move on, be the bigger guy

I mean I'll bow to superior knowledge but I don't think that's true. Given that most of those publications operate at a loss you'd think at last one club would have stopped by now if they were allowed to.

Answering my own question - used to be a rule, now abolished.

Well they obviously were sustainable as they created a club from scratch and managed to get up to the same level as MK Dons who stole their place in the league.

That sort of crowd figure was only in their last season at Selhurst Park in 2002/03 when they knew it was a fait accompli and Koppel was moving them to MK so the majority of WFC fans boycotted the games. This culminated in a crowd of about 850 (250 away fans) in a game against Rotherham.

I'd presume also that a large chunk of their following had also jumped ship to start supporting AFCW a few months before.

Just looked through comp rules and programmes not mentioned.

Also re Clive's point re GLT - it says its up the to the EFL if its used or not - that's nice and clear then!

The football league is full of clubs with fans who despise their owners and what they’re doing to their clubs, but in most cases, the owners still cling on to power.

Blackpool,Charlton,Bury,Darlington,Hull And Newcastle have all been shafted by poor owners who would try to move them to the moon if it meant more money coming in.And as others have said,it could’ve been us playing in the ar@e end of nowhere.Would we have let it go by now if we’d had to rebuild as afc qpr?

You’re missing a trick here Clive. Offer the club your services creating online match day programmes that can be down loaded in the same format as existing programme but with comment a la LFW/ podcast etc.

The bland nature of club programmes put most off buying years ago.

Reckon it could be done without compromising this site.

They already do it.My mate said on Saturday that you could buy all the qpr programmes online for cheaper than the paper versions. And you get it sent to you a day before the game.

For those chirping on about shit supporters letting clubs die, we only got 5k and a bit last night.

Doesn't give any priveteer the right to swoop in and steal a club because it's poorly supported.

'I'm alright Jack' won't cut it. Could be us and nearly was.
