Rugby World Cup Thread 09:31 - Sep 13 with 16575 viewsPlanetHonneywood

A week to go and aside of the annoying Tarquin ra-ra factor, looking forward to a tournament where ‘all’ the players won’t be rolling around feigning injury as if they were shot by a blunderbuss when they were hardly touched at all.

Kiwis to lose really, nothing revealing about that. But the fact they’re in the same pool as the Boks and neither would meet until the final, then assuming they both avoid defeat, makes it hard to look beyond an AB, Yarpies final. As the rest of us can be inconsistent and would likely have to beat both those behemoths to win it; hard to see anyone lifting the trophy.

Argentina are wearing the best possible QPR kit. We've never had one that...perfect.

The cut, the length, the fit, the socks. Fcuk that's beautiful. A lighter blue, but ifs Tony, this is what you should have. Let's exploit the world's best kit. Home and fcuking away.

Just tweak the blue then. We'd be gaining fans for a kit of such beauty.

Can definitely see referee playing major role in deciding this tournament.
Just about a sending off a game at moment with couple of yellow cards as well.
Japan apart its been tough to get into if honest.

A bigger thing is the weather

Veyr real threat Ireland and Wales games could be abandoned due to a huge typhoon knocking Ireland out and causing Wales to finish 2nd (abandoned games are listed as 0-0 draws)

Wales had a bit of a scare today I see with the Fijians. Came good in the last 10 minutes as the Fijian's tired but they were right up against it at one point.

On another point - I watched The Miracle of Brighton last night which is now available on Prime TV. Not a bad docu-movie if you like. Jake the Muss as usual puts in a great performance, this time as Eddie Jones. Didn't know he suffered a stroke before the World Cup. Anyway, good it was.

Fiji are so great to watch when they attack. They really need a regular platform for higher level rugby

Japan the worst team in it for me. 15 foreigners picked up recently...disgusting precedent that's setting.

What's bothering me the most is the way 'they' seem to be making Wales out as potential winners! Absurd. We're missing half of the bloody team through injury and even with everybody available, the chance of us beating New Zealand is surely negligible. We could lose to any half decent team on our day. Can anybody seriously imagine Fiji almost beating the Kiwis?

Classic if the jock game cancelled and that eliminates them

What an absolutely gutting blow to those going out there and the tournament though

Here for a good time..... not a long time

Gutting all round really. Lots of pubs and venues near me would have had bookings for Saturday morning's match. Lost all that business.

If Scotland were eliminated that way it would sour the whole tournament. It has lacked a bit of spark so far and England and France get a pass on a big match where they could have picked up injuries.

I don't think rugby lends itself well to a WC tournament as everyone picks up too many injuries along the way (Billy V spotted wearing a boot the other day) and the country that can play its 5th choice no 10 in the final wins (exaggeration but you get my point). Perhaps the group stages should be separate from the QF onwards stage.

These cancellations feel wrong and certainly premature. At least work out a contingency to play the matches elsewhere, even if it's behind closed doors or free entry for locals etc.

There were 5 players not born in Japan in the team that beat Ireland. Full strength England in the quarters will probably play 3

Totally sucks that we've got to play the Aussies without a sterner test than we've had so far.

Very interesting video thanks for posting. That is a massive amount of players born in NZ playing for other countries .Nice clear distension between players who qualify through parents /grandparents and those who emigrated for work or just to play for a living.
Its just the way its going right now with mass migration around the globe due to different circumstances International Team make up is going to reflect that .
It would be a catastrophe if the weather forced Scotland to lose out without having their chance IMO

i've barely seen any rugby this WC because of work and the fact i'm not an early bird anyway but that game was electric! Scotland huffed and puffed in the second half but they'd already f*cked it after conceding that 4th try just after the break. The Japanese pressure was something else.

At least their fate was decided on the pitch so there is no complaints .Ireland are going to pay the price for losing to Japan having to face the All Blacks but from here on out there is no easy game and Japan are surprising a lot of people.Their run will end here though IMO.

Japan have quite clearly been the best entertaining team to watch this world cup. That was such a good match today. Their offloading skills are incredible. Beating both Ireland and Scotland in that pool is sensational. They will fear no one now and believe 100% they can beat SA. Bokke mate of mine is bricking it. Ireland v NZ is interesting, if Ireland turn up they will be a massive test for the All Blacks who so far have had a pretty easy ride. Wide open it is.

Yeah, it's getting bloody ridiculous huh?

https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/rugby/international/rwc-over-20-per-cent-of-pla

Next world cup to be won by the UAE without one homegrown player. Perhaps Man City can start an international Rugby Team and win that as well?

It's another one of those issues which we all know is fundamentally wrong and yet nobody seems to care. What a sickener for the players who are pushed out of the squad for foreign signings.
