I realise that Lumley has made a few errors but I'm genuinely surprised at this given the number of keepers currently on our books. Apparently QPR are trialling 29 year-old Austrian goalkeeper Heinz Lindner.
Seems bizarre. If you'd have told me yesterday i'd wake up to see we're interested in a new goalkeeper, i'd have thought there was probably more chance of them fixing the match replay and i'm not expecting them to have managed that.
When they said goalkeeper, are they sure he isn't a centre back who's good with his hands as well?
Goal-keeping equivalent of all those video comps that make strikers look like world-beaters - lots of reaction saves and finger-tip over the bar stuff, not too many commanding claims of corners and crosses....but one penalty save!

If we were to sign another goalkeeper, it would sugest to me that the club feel that we could achieve promotion this season, which is a view I share (and have done since prior to Stoke away). It is also the position that I think is our weakest.
If that is the case, surely we would not sell Eze, Chair etc in the January window?

Certainly the best chance of keeping Eze in January is to be involved in a promotion push.

The point is, although we'd like to sell, I don't think we'd need to in January. Especially if the team is still doing well. I think both player and club would be happy to give it a few more months. But we're getting ahead of ourselves!
Bare bones.

I think Lumley is a great keeper and has a future. He’s not kicked on since Villa bashed him up last season - confidence knocked from being under pressure this.
Now I’m torn Him between the sticks has been part of where we are at this early in the season so fair play to him. If we hadn’t had his errors this season we could be higher in the table
The other side of this is if a decent player of great calibration becomes available in any position, on a freebie, via Warbs or Penrice, and they’ll improve us then why shouldn’t we take a look? I’m confident the right thing would be done rather than the debacle under Hughesless with Green and Ceaser

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

He's being reasonable! Quick, get him!

It seems a bit strange with us having so many decent goalkeepers, but I do think Lindner would be an upgrade. As far as I know he is quite desperate to find a new club after leaving Grasshoppers Zürich. Don´t think his wage demands would be a problem....Also most likely, he would still be the number one for our national team, so he needs to play at a good level...

Ok. So he is a lot better than Matt Ingram was was a bit of god-send when that all went t*ts up, a free solution in our squad.
And he has qualities. He's imposing and takes a good cross, he can also pull off big diving saves.
But for me his reaction speed is below top level and he hasn't got particularly good feet. He doesn't seem to be very naturally coordinated or much of an athlete.
He's a 6 to 7/10. I'd have said he'd get better but I suspect his natural skills are curtailing any further progress.
Austrian Bean Counter might be an 8/10 on a free.
EDIT. If that's Heinz's 'highlights reel' then we should keep looking. A whole bunch of regulation saves spilt back into the danger area.
Just bought one, gave another one a new contract and loaned him out and have another summer recruit who has only played 2 x 1st team games - excl friendlies
Very odd.
