Millwall - very white aren't they? Just a thought that occurred to me while enjoying myself yesterday.

Is this because they don't want to upset their "fan"base or because black players don't want to go there. Add Burnley to that as well.

I noticed this when they came to our place last season. All white and over 6ft 2 they looked more like the Serbian National Basketball squad. Could be just a coincidence of course but it stood out to me as being odd. I did point it out to a mate who said no there is one black player - the goalkeeper. This didn’t make me feel any more reassured. Of course it could be that they haven’t come across any decent black players. For instance if they’d had let’s say a player of Eberichi Eze’s calibre on their books then maybe ... sorry what’s that you say?

" they looked more like the Serbian National Basketball squad."

I'm beginning to see what's gone wrong with their transfer policy.

I thought this week's elephant in the room was bound to be the goal that Matt Smith scored against us yesterday??

I'm sure there's nothing in it but I did notice that they're basically ten Big Matt Smith clones. It's all a bit Stepford wivesy.

I don’t think it’s anything to do with the manager. I’ve read his autobiography and I didn’t come across anything untoward.

They've got two black players in their first team squad plus another half a dozen in their U23 squad so I wouldn't read anything too deep into Saturday's team selection.

In season 1956/57 we signed Tesi Balogun a Nigerian from Non- League Skegness and he scored on his debut against Watford.
Prior to that season I think we were all white.

If at first you dont succeed, pack up and f**k off home.

I remember Tesi Balogun. In those days, that was very unusual.

Don't know why anyone would downarrow the OP, to be fair. The post was just making an observation and asking questions.

Tesi Balogun has a stadium in Nigeria named after him.

Good to hear that Millwall have some black players in their squad. Would be very odd if a London team in the 21st Century didn’t. Weird that some people think it weird to make the observation. Though I guess they would think it weird that I think it’s weird that they think it’s weird. And down-voting. Very touchy. Weird.

if there is anything in this thread, of which i'm not so sure, it could be young black players giving millwall a swerve because, well, they're millwall, and not the other way round.

Whether or not their all white team is significant, The New Den remains the last ground I visited where a fan can openly make a monkey gesture while standing next to a steward and get away with it. Vile people. Hate them only next to the other racist scum from SW6.
