Our marking at set pieces 12:38 - Oct 3 with 625 viewsbosh67

Having watched the highlights back again we appear to start each set piece with a combination of zonal and man to man marking and as soon as the ball moves we stay in exactly the same position and mark the patch of grass we are standing on while the opposition lose us immediately. 3-4 times, including both set piece goals we seemed to be standing like a row of statues as the ball was kicked. Have to do something about that.

We aren't the biggest team and seem to be out muscled by much bigger players, especially in the last two games, so the least we can do is actually stick with a player at set pieces and make it a lot more difficult for them to get to the ball. Kelly was left pretty exposed last night and he too isn't the biggest keeper in the world.

On another front I thought the ref seemed to do well to calm a few scuffles down and not wave cards or red cards about like some others may have.

This non marking and zonal marking and statue thing is something the coaching staff really need to think about. The grass you are standing on doesn't score goals. The players that ghost away from you each time do, more often than not.

Never knowingly right.
Poll: How long before new signings become quivering wrecks of the players they were?

I disagree with a bit you've said today and not bothered posting but I'm not letting that comment about the referee slide. Completely and utterly out of his depth dealing with experienced, cynical players. Totally ineffective and at times pathetic. Allowing Morrison to wander around for a bit at every throw in looking for a fcking towel on a dry night fairly high among is absolute festering ineptness.
