Anyone been to all these now defunct football grounds? 13:56 - Oct 18 with 8730 views | R_from_afar | I don't go to many away games - lightweight - but was surprised to find that I have actually been to five of them. I'm impressed by The Old Showground's collapsible floodlights! https://www.buzzfeed.com/richardbeech/defunct-english-football-grounds
| "Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1." |

Anyone been to all these now defunct football grounds? on 15:57 - Oct 18 by Antti_Heinola | 8 for me. Wish I'd got to some of them though - some great old names in there... Highfield Rd, Filbert St... Withdean... |
I remember a trip to Highfield Road just before the Sky Blues played Spuds in the FAC final ('87?) and there was barely a blade of grass on the playing surface. Whilst R's players were having a pre match kick in, the fans chanted an impromptu song regarding the lack of grass which stirred Ian Dawes into racing off to the far side of the pitch and coming back with a small handful of grass which then paraded in front of the R's fans. I half recall a very drunken CCFC fan draped in a flag right next to the QPR section getting dragged out of the ground . A much better atmosphere that day than any games at the Ricoh.
| The grass is always greener. |

The away game there in 86 was the last game of the season, Coventry beat us to avoid relegation, invaded the pitch and promptly bombarded us with stones.

You've got that Northern advantage Martin.😄 Once I've bothered to visit Salford and Spurs new stadium I will have seen Matches at 155 league or former league grounds. Apart from possibly the Reynolds Arena I don't think there are any more Still standing that I can do?
